Would anyone care to recommend me a decent snow foam please?

Having recently found out just how disappointing Halfrauds Demon Wash really is (my wife bought it) I said I'd buy the next load and promised it would be better . . . . . .

Buy some Valet Pro Citrus Prewash and a 2L/5L garden sprayer instead.

It does the same job, takes less time and costs less.

It doesn't look as fancy though or give you 'Internet Cash Washing Pics E-Peen Points'.

A worthy compromise.

My wife has a white Fiat 500 and its covered in little black tar looking marks.

Looking to clean it up tonight and will go past Halfords to pick something up. Will a clay do the job? I used one once about 3 years ago but can't remember if I was impressed or not.

I was thinking of going for the Meguiar's Quik Clay Starter Kit, will that be any good? (I appreciate I can get clay cheaper online but just want a quick fix and tonights my only chance to clean it for the next couple of weeks)

It'll remove some of it but you'll need a tar remover to get rid of it all, or you can use WD40 as a substitute.

Just don't use the tar remover as a lube for clay, it isn't neccessary and it'll dissolve the clay which is a nightmare to clean up.

Although clay will remove tar spots its slower going and wastes a lot of clay compared with a specific tar spot remover.

I use Autoglym intensive tar remover but I've found most tar spot removers to be fine and far better than any other method I've tried.

Thanks guys, I think I will give it a quick go with the clay then see what I am left with. Not sure how bad it was or if it was just stubborn insects etc so will wait and see before picking up the Autoglym tar remover.

Won't be having another white car again that's for sure!

I'd use a tar remover first. Save dragging contamination around on the clay which will introduce scratches & marring.

Most of you will probably reel in disgust but I'm not a big fan of all the fuss of detailing etc.

Please forgive me.

However I do come in search of advice. I've acquired a car from my bro-in-law as I'm in need of an estate. So I now have a Fiat Stilo Multiwagon. (1.6 16v A/C).

Now my issue is that my bro-in-law has 2 kids and the car has cream plastics, which are marked to hell. I've tried normal detergent but still can't get it properly clean and it will annoy me.

Can you lot suggest something that will clean it?

Cheers

Thanks, I picked up the tar remover too. Didnt have time tonight but hopefully I can make an hour tomorrow evening. Visiting parents so may as well make use of their water :D

As you can see the alloy is curbed to death, this happened when the car was 2 days old!! I don't have my own car anymore so lost my enjoyment from washing cars. Going to start looking after this one although I'm very tempted to get rid and replace it with something I'd like to use at the weekends.

Car washed 3 times tonight
Bug and tar remover applied and rubbed till my arms couldn't take anymore. Got rid of 90% of the tar.
Car clayed all over. Still some stubborn bits remain.
Applied auto glym ultra deep shine as it was the only way I had that looked like it hadn't gone off. Unfortunately it had so only ended up waxing the bonnet.

Edit : the colour change in the final photo is just how it came out of my phone.

Haha I thought you would be, it was a pain in the arse. Probably not helped by the fact I went for some cheapo tar remover rather than a decent brand?

I'd be happy at that tbh mate (Most tar removers are much the same anyway), looks a million times better than before. Have the roads recently been resurfaced where you live or something? All mine have been done of the Tour De France riders going through Yorkshire and I'm removing tar weekly at the moment :(

Not that I know of but I rarely drive the route my wife uses. Will give it another go when I get chance on those last few stubborn bits. I guess a good wax will slow down the build up?

Also noticed loads of tiny orange looking dots on the paintwork. They almost look like specks of rust. The clay bar gets rid of them eventually but it was taking an age.
