Did we ever work out what snowfoam actually does that a proper hosepipe doesn't other than tick the detailing world fad box and look cool?

Not sure if serious? It's been covered so many times I'm surprised you've never seen the logic.

The advantage is that you spray an even film of detergent on your car, let it loosen the grime, and then wash it away without having to actually touch the car, i.e. less chance of grinding dirt in to the paint work.

It's basically like old fashioned truck wash but its pretty because it looks like snow, I'm guessing it's this bit you take offence to?

It does nothing that a citrus degreaser/ pre wash doesn't do at least as well....imo

It only actually makes a car look clean if its got a thin layer of dirt on it, which the other product will also do. Otherwise yes its good for loosening up built on grime a bit but again so is the other product, except you don't need an expensive foam regulator for your pressure washer to use it

+1

It certainly shifts some grime but I find using Citrus Power or Gtechniq W5 citrus prewashes to be effective too. I use a hose rather than a pressure washer for the most part, and therefore it's defintely too much hassle to break out the Karcher just for foaming.

Something else I've heard, is that using a pressure washer compared to a hose saves water (obviously by using less water).

Is there any truth to that?

So cleaned my car with Prewash, shampoo, clay, polish and wax today. took about 3 hours. You cant see it in the photos below but I think I put too much wax on as still some reside on the bonet and roof but ran out of clean cloths so will have to finish it when their washed.

Hi all. Gave the car a thorough clean today. Used a new snow foam...Auto Finesse Avalanche.

Quick review for you...it's crap. Don't bother.

Was expecting it to be better than the cleanyourcar.com Ultimate stuff which I've been using since buying a snow foam lance. In reality, it made absolutely naff all difference. I may as well have left it in the bottle :/

I'm actually tempted to try and get a refund from cleanyoucar...I wouldn't mind if it had just been sub par, but it was absolutely useless.

ShiWarrior - It'll say on the front if it's the new formula with anti-misting. Fast glass is good too, but be careful to keep it off any protected surfaces because it can strip them. This can be avoided with glass polish as there is no overspray. You need use no more than a 50p sized amount for a windscreen too.

Conscript- Your views are reflected by AF's own reviewers in their manufacturer section on Detailing World. I would have thought that it would be better, considering that it includes Citrus Power.

its very old unfortunately, should I just use Fast Glass to quickly clean the windows, and the glass polish to tackle stubborn stains if fast glass don't work? (inside and out)

Won't need waxing often unless you are using a show wax...

Also get some tyre & trim dressing as it will really help to finish it off!
