Sorry if this has been discussed in the thread before, but what would people recommend for getting my red zafira back to a bight red?

Is it a metalilic red or non ? Flame red is non metallic while power red is.

If its non metallic flame red its likely not got a clearcoat and the paint is reacting with the air and fading.

To bring it back to its former glory you need to remove the thin layer of oxidized paint on top to reveal nice bright red paint underneath.

You do this by polishing. You can either get a hand polish and use lots and lots of elbow grease, or get somebody to machine polish it for you.

Here's what polishing can do

What's good for the inside of windows? I don't think the previous owner of mine bothered to clean the windscreen much so it's constantly showing all the marks and misted up inside.

I used my usual meguires window cleaner with paper towels, followed by rain-x anti fog but it's still showing a ton of marks and fogging up really easily. I normally use autoglym window polish on the outside but I don't fancy the idea of how much mess that would make inside with the powder. Do I just need more elbow grease on it?

Any anti-mist glass cleaner. First wipe down the glass with a damp cloth to remove excess crud, then spray cleaner on to a clean glass cloth and wipe away to a streak free shine.

Try a 'Magic eraser' type sponge, they work great on glass. Just be aware that the do degrade with use and drop particles so protect the top of the dash with news paper or something.

Anything vinegar based so bogoo supermarket stuff will clean a screen fine, if its fogging up could it be a blocked up pollen filter?

I actually find these quite good from poundland

I actually use autoglym window polish on the inside too, if you use it sparingly and wipe off with a large enough MF towel you shouldn't get any dust in the interior

I use Autoglym fast glass with a microfibre cloth - I have Autoglym window polish too, but it leaves an annoying white powder after use. I had an annoying film on the outside previously, used methylated spirit to get it off - slightly stronger than vinegar I found. Personally I avoid anti-fog, that stuff caused more trouble than it was worth. I like the usual RainX though.

Good wash down with a weak dilution of shampoo and water in a bottle sprayed on and wiped off and then AF Vision :) Don't see a point in glass cleaner as they're always smeary or overpriced, shampoo in a bottle works just as well.

ST3 Detailed today :)

it involved, detar (tardis), de-iron (iron x), clay (G3 mitt) wash 2BM (car pro reset), AF Tripple polish using AF Dual Foam applicator, followed by AF Illusion using a AF Wax Mate, also AF Mint Wheels for the alloys and Megs Endurance tyre gloss.

Door Shuts - AF Tripple

used a Carpro Wash mitt, Wheel Woolies and a Dooka Wheel mitt

The Meguairs glass cleaner is the best I've used. No streaking at all.

Yeah but it's close to £10 a bottle on amazon. My plain and simple (no wax) shampoo and water probably costs close to 50p for 1L.

Thanks Fr0dders, it's the same red as the astra pictured - whilst no where near as bad as the astra it's still a little pink.

Someone mentioned Super Resin Polish would be good?
Would the cheapish Halfords 240 Volt Car Polisher be ok or should i get someone to do it?

SRP will be easy on by hand. Don't put any cheap machine near your paintwork nor pay anyone to do it. Just do it by hand.

Just a heads up folks, ECP are doing the Sonax BSD for £7 at the mo, ive not seen it under a tenner before, so not a bad price at all.
