Meths is the best thing I've used for getting glass clean and streak free.

I'm a big fan of Autoglym FastGlass, I find I get a streak free finish every time.

Crucially you must keep using a clean side of a microfibre, keep using one side and as it gets dirty the dirt will create streaks no matter which product you use!

Might use the bank holiday weekend to give my car a 'detail'. Been ages since I bothered and the first time with the F10 so I am a bit out of touch.

No idea what's on it currently but it still beads nicely and I have had it over a year so whatever it is is lasting well.

I still have some old Collinite 476s, is this plus some autoglym SRP after a clay bar session still the best choice or is it worth me buying something new?

For longevity it will be your best bet still.

SRP is mostly a filler so you're not really flattening the swirl marks as much as you would with a more abrasive cutting compound. In combination with the 476 it should last a long while before it wears off though.

Not that bothered about swirls as its a light metallic and I only notice them under artificial light anyway.

If there are a lot of swirl marks it might take a few applications of SRP - pressing a little harder helps too. I really need to get one of those clay mitts, they sound great for a car that doesn't have too much contamination on it.

Heh. I wish I could say the same. #blackcarproblems

Your combo will be fine then and you should get good results - at least it's more of a grey and not "I spent all day washing, claying, polishing, and waxing, and it only looks marginally cleaner than before I started" regular silver :p

Used Bouncer's Done & Dusted Quick detailer last night.

Impressions:

- Leaves a lovely gloss to glass, plastics & paint
- Easy to use, extremely slick and doesn't smear
- Fantastic atomiser spray head minimised product use & over application

Finally, it smells amazing!

It's currently over at Saverschoice for £12.99 delivered (most other places are £12.99 +pp)

What do people think is the best pressure washer for around £100? Less is fine, a bit more is fine too. I know many people default to Karcher but I've done a bit of light reading and they aren't sounding too good...

I've recently discovered using Autoglym Super Resin Polish (followed by the Gloss Protection) actually makes the paintwork a lot nicer. My cars have typically been Supagarded to date and while it's OK, it's nothing special. I think the main dealers usually offer it up free, then do a terrible job applying it, which doesn't help matters.

I'd like to wash it with some sort of foam/shampoo, using the pressure washer, then obviously rinse and leather it, etc (if this makes any difference).

Any suggestions?

Surely you've seen Nilfisk mentioned here countless times?! Basically the Nilfisk C110 series falls into that price bracket (it's actually £79~ on Amazon with accessories) and is bulletproof and pretty much unbeatable.

For foaming you will want a proper snowfoam lance, adjust budget for that as a decent one is around £50 too. COmbined, the laqnce and Nilfisk will easily be in your budget.

Maxisuds for foaming and shampoo, a great general shampoo for washing and foaming agent for the lance.

Not quite, there just isn't anything better for the price and quality you get, you'll see when you pick one up, you can't bend the lance and extension whereas a comparable spec Karcher one you can.

Hi guys, just bought a red focus recently and went to wash it today, had a nightmare getting black tar spots off with regular autoglym shampoo, took an age. Can anyone recommend something that's good for the paintwork and alloys please to remove tar etc? Thanks.

Yeah, people are singing their praises over at Detailing World too. Must be good!

Whatever you use it needs to be gentle with those Autoglym products - I would suggest autoglym's shampoo unless you are unable to use it with your pressure washer.

Have been looking at pressure washers myself, that Nilfisk washer looks like a good shout. Trying to find a good snow foam lance. Ideas? Need to find some gentle snow foam though that is Autoglym compatable.

Edit: nvm, seems Autoglym do their own now :)

I've got a large bottle of Autoglym Shampoo and Conditioner, that should do the trick.

Nilfisk seem the way to go, and they're priced well. I suppose it's worth trying to get one with some useful car cleaning related attachments, though I guess they can be added at a later date too...

Any ph neutral snow foam (like the ValetPro stuff) should be okay on the autoglym stuff. With the SRP though it's going to be pointless and expensive putting it on and leaving you need to seal it with either a wax (like FK1000p, cheap and has a decent lifetime) or a sealant (better on light coloured cars, Sonax BSD or C2V3 are two quick ones, spray, spread and buff).

Regarding tar removers, tardis is thought of as the best just use with common sense :)
