Thanks guys.

The paint is actually in really good condition, very few swirls. The guy who had it before me used to get it detailed regularly, the full works. So it's been looked after

So it's more just to keep on top of stuff really. I'm more concerned about a good wax

Slightly off topic but I did cringe considerably the other weekend at the neighbours car cleaning...

Using waterless wash spray on his new mondeo with a noodle washmitt... which was face down in the gravel.

Looked great until the sun came out.

Before I hit buy, does this look ok for a good clean and winter protection? Am I missing anything? I already have Autoglym SRP, Autoglym Leather cleaner and the basics (bucket, loads of microfibre towels)

1. Scratch Shield Bucket Filter
2. Eurow - Ultra Plush Micro-Noodle Wash Mitt
3. Wolf's Chemicals - White Satin Shampoo
4. Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam
5. Collinite 476S - Super Doublecoat Auto Wax
6. Valet Pro - Dragon's Breath 500ml
7. Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour
8. Foam Wax Applicator
9. CYC Snow Foam Lance
10. Valet Pro - Inch Round Wheel Brush

Only thing I'm missing is a quick detailing spray should I have to clean off any bird mess or other muck, any recommendations?

Thanks

I'll not comment on the rest, but sheepskin mits are said to be better than noodle

Ok will add two cents in on snowfoam too, magnifoam is very popular

You can buy the exact same foam lance that CYC sell for half the price on ebay. I like CYC a lot, they offer excellent service and good prices on most things, but their foam lances are too expensive.

As for a quick detailer, I would highly recommend the Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine, it's really good stuff and a good deal at £9.95 right now

Yeah was going to go with the magnifoam but it's not on cleanyourcar and wanted to try and do it all in one order from one place. This one has had some good feedback on here too though :)

Ok thanks Havana :)

Looks fine from here. And yes the detergent bit in your washer will be fine, just get the right mix and it will act as snowfoam. I use Maxisuds mostly, this is a snow foam, but also a shampoo (or the other way round :p) - So yeah, they are one and the same unless the shampoo specifically states it's a shampoo only.

Try it and see, if it snows and sticks to the car for a few minutes, you're good to go.

Awesome, thank you very much. I predict a massive mess the first time I try this :p.

Any recommendations on which microfibre buffing/drying cloths I should be using? There's so much opinion from everyone it seems.

I tried one of the CYC purple edgeless towels.. absolute crap. I have some of their big blue towels, still going strong them! I'll get some links for you in a bit :)

Think I'm going to get my car hand washed at a local place for a tenner and apply some polish when I get home tomorrow, what would you recommend, it has a lot of random tiny scratches, swirl marks etc all over the body.. I want to give it one good coat for the winter so would something like this -;

do the job ? what else would I need.. not expecting to restore the paint to perfect shine but I'm sure there's way to improve it!

any special polishes/waxes for winter?

keep in mind that I've literally just got my car a month ago and it's my first so I have no washing kit at all and pressure washer is out of question sadly..

help me get started boys! :)

thanks.

I dislike hand car wash places. Swirls galore.

tell me about it, but what choice do I have :o I could probably attach a hose from my kitchen, route it over the living room.. out the window and into the street but that's a pain on it's own!

All my stuff arrives tomorrow, spent close to £200 including the pressure washer so I really hope the weather stays dry as is currently forecast.

Looking forward to using the Collinite 476S wax and seeing some quality beading . Is it easy to apply? I've bought a couple of foam applicator pads as a few reviews said to use those, sound right?

Had my order come from Polished Bliss, I couldn't resist the lucky dip offer :D

GYEON Q2M FOAM
GYEON Q2M BATHE+
GYEON Q2M SMOOTHIE
GYEON Q2M TAR
GYEON Q2M CLAY
AUTO FINESSE CITRUS POWER
AUTO FINESSE TOUGH COAT
AUTO FINESSE CREW BAG
PB LUXURY WHEEL WOOLIES

In the lucky dip I managed to get a Auto Finesse Clay bar and Glide which was great :)

Looking forward to trying the GYEON range.

I'd go for something with quite a lot of fillers such as AG SRP if using my hand to compensate for the lack of cutting from not having a machine.

SRP is what i have been reading loads of good reviews about so think ill go for that.

What should i use after the SRP? i guess i need to wax it? also is there anything i should use before the srp or do i just give it a wash?

Literally not washed the motor in about 3 months which is shocking by my standards.
I do dislike this time of year, gets dark too early and weekends have been too cold for polishing or too wet/windy.

This weekend looks to be about right (albeit a bit windy) so will do a winter prep hopefully. Will no doubt last about a week before it looks the same though! :P.
