Cleaned it, again, and took it up for a drive through Cheddar Gorge and then over the Mendips and down through Burrington Coombe. This thing is like a go-cart! :D

Rinsed down with hose
Snow foamed with Fireball Korea Active Snow Foam (Love this stuff)
2 bucket method with Autosmart Autowash (first time trying it, awesome stuff)
Wheels and arches cleaned with Autosmart Smart Wheels (3:1) and a sash brush
Rinsed with an open hose to remove the majority of the water
Dried with an Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe
Autosmart Tardis over the lower half, rear, arches and wheels
Autosmart Red7 over the entire car
Thoroughly rinsed
Clayed with Bilt Hamber clay (not many containments left)
Rinsed
Wax'd with Fusso Dark
Wheels dressed with Gyeon Tire (lasts ages and only two sprays onto an applicator pad per tyre)

I have booked some time off in June to DA the entire car, don't want to rush it, so have left myself 2 days to get everything the way I want it. Just need to refurb the wheels, get a cup spoiler, new exhaust/centre silencer removal and it should be the way I want it. Oh, I also debadged the CLIO from the boot a few days ago

Made the plunge and bought some Gtechniq G1 (and other bits) to see if they really do last a year...big proper clean coming up on Bank Holiday weekend (weather permitted).

Good to hear about the clay mitt Howard, I plan on buying it along with an upholstery cleaner and tyre shine from halfords with the 3 for 2 offer.

Tell you what doesn't last though - 10 quid quick detailer. Seriously, it's a massive waste of money.

QD is fantastic stuff and as a result you'll use a LOT of it - very expensive at 10 quid a go for just 750ml!!

If you must have a branded QD then at least buy in bulk - you can buy 3.8 litres for about 20 quid - or better still use Astonish Spray and Shine. It does exactly the same thing but it costs 99p instead of £10 so its 10 times cheaper.

I always buy about 10 of them whenever I see them and as result I've always got loads of it and I can use it constantly without thinking about what it costs.

Spending 10 quid on QuickDetailer has 'mug' written all over it I'm afraid - I'm all for buying the right branded stuff when it matters and when it'll last - ie waxes, polishes etc, but not for QD.

It's for patches of cleaning, not entire car.

I don't plan to keep buying it, it's "try and see if it's worth it". Normally I don't buy detailer, I just wash the spray wax but been hearing a lot of good things about this so wanted to see for myself.

"mug" is a bit of a strong term, but I guess I am in good company! Not sure why you picked this occasional to call me out on it, and not at other posters when they have used it back in February, April and this month!

BSD as a detail spray is actually pretty crap.

It's basically a spray wax.

The idea is keep it in the car and if I am out and about, like away from home for a few days and get a massive bird splat, I can use it to clean/wipe (after using some water first). I don't envisage this happening every day and should last ages using it this way.

I replied because I read the post, I obviously wasn't reading the thread when they posted so I didn't reply.

Spray and Shine will do exactly what you want at a 10th of the price - the bonus being its so cheap you can spray it liberally after a wash too!

Really the only safe way to remove it is using a pressure washer. Some bird poop is literally like clay/glue and no amount of QD or dabbing will shift it.

Sometimes you just got to do the best you can at a car park. If I am away at a wedding shoot for a weekend and not home for another 2 days, its either doing some water, dabbing or leave it until I get home and let it baked for 2 days and wait for a pressure washer.

Thanks for the heads up, appreciated :) and as I said, it is a "try it for myself" more than anything after the other good comments.

And you can see why I think, and I have said before, from my perspective you have this tendency to always quote me.... Just seems more than a "co-incidence" from where i am sitting.

I got some Autoglym Rapid Detailer yesterday as it was 3 for 2 and I only needed two things. It'll be kept in the car for the next time every bird in the city has a go at my car.

Insect remover is the best thing I've used for removing bird poo though.

Pour warm water over it until it becomes soft, then it will either drop off or you can use a wet wipe to gently nudge it into falling off.
