Holy crap that is some severe lacquer peel!

Sadly the general advice is to re-spray the entire panel if it has lacquer peel. So a bumper re-spray. When it is as bad as that I don't think there will be any other option, aside from leaving it.

How old is that car?

And how long did you leave that bird dirt on there to do that to the bonnet??

Damn it, did not want to read that! It's 2011, f20. It would have been around 2 weeks of the bird poo. Would this be a similar repair to the lacquer?

The lacquer peel appeared out of no where, why would/does this happen? It's new to me!

Ouch... :(

I think lacquer peel is usually caused by stone chips, and then moisture getting between the paint and the lacquer causing it to flake away. Happy to be corrected though. I'm surprised about that on a 2011 car to be honest!

leaving bird poop on your car is like throwing a load of acid all over your car, i wipe it off the 2nd i see it, even carry wipes in my car.

if it is bumper and bonnet, you will need the whole front end doing, but would say its not worth the cost

If it's stone chips that makes sense as we had our road resurfaced this month and I had to get my windscreen replaced as a result. I'm going to get some quotes as I want to sell the car!

^^great beading :)

I was quite liberal, quite a few on each panel. Must have been a lot on my microfibre towel by the end. Can't see any smears.

Nice smell too!

I used my BSD for the first time yesterday.. I was surprised by the nice smell.. and like you say, by the end microfiber cloth was quite wet with it by the end..
Was tempted to try it on my front windscreen..advisable ??

quick pic of the beading after 2 coats of CarPro CQuartz UK toped with gtechniq c2v3.The black trim has 2 coats of gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer

Did you apply the CQuartz yourself? Was it hard to do?

Car arrives next week, considering doing this. Should have access to a workshop for a day so I can do it inside. :)

I did it my self and found it easy just check out some videos on utube to see how its done.
Also i did it out side not undercover. As long as you do a good prep you cant go wrong i useed a das 6 polisher to make things easier and quicker.
Only took a about a day to do full wash decon polish and coat then prayed it did not rain for 24 hours but if your inside no issue there.
I did not use the reloaded you get in the kit as it dose not really work to well with dark paints for some reason so opted for c2.

Got any pics of the whole car? :)

Mine will be similar colour, possible the same, what car is it?

New car so hopefully wont need much correction, really dont want to have to polish it, though I do have a das 6.

Need some advice on bird poo stain... got baked on the roof in the sun and after removal has left a stain in the paint. I don't think the poo was there that long, but long enough obviously! I have tried Meguiars Ultimate Compound as recommended by someone, but that doesn't seem to have done very much, despite putting some elbow grease in to it. Any advice? Car is a Golf Mk7 Limestone Grey, if that makes any difference.

And you may be suprised how many scratches the dealer will add when they valet the car for you.

I refused the free valet on mine and sid ity self to save issues and time.

This sounds crazy but try a hair dryer on it .not sure if i read that here or on detaling world forum.but worth looking up

Well the poo is off... that wasn't the problem... it's the stain that's now left, like it's actually done something to the paintwork.

Its etched in to the paint so search the hairdryer. Im out if not i would find the link.

Went over it with the Farecla clay mitt, Meg's Ultimate Compound and Meg's Deep Crystal Wax.I want to try the G3 paste wax but I'll use up what I have for now. Still some light swirl marks but only noticeable if you push your nose up right to the paint so I'm not all that bothered.
