so what do you use for windshield? rainx is very mixed review wise so I'd rather avoid it and just use it for side wondows/rear window.

It smears too much because it doesn't really go 'off' like Gtechniq does. I'll be giving that a go soon, just because it helps keep the screen clear rather than being super fussy.

First time I've read about applying 3 layers of glass products!

Clean, polish, seal?

This. I've not really used 3 products on glass before either, but I had them, and seemed like a sensible way of doing things. As said above, clean, polish, seal.

Should really wipe it down with isopropyl before applying G1.

Just following the destructions really. Clean the glass, polish with G4, then apply G1 and take off with G2. Although I did use Fast Glass instead of G6, since that's what I had lying around.

Didn't really get on with RainX myself before, just ended up smearing near the end of it's life-cycle, and was pretty annoying.

The G1 however, I had on my 530d since it was about 6 months old (with around 8k on it, now 2 years, 6 months old with 42k on it), and is only now evident it has stopped working as well. Might get some G5 for that one, since I'll only have it for another 6 months or so.

wash - dry - apply BSD

aqua wax says to keep the car "wet" and apply, while bsd wants the car to be dry.

both will probably work but I always dry -> apply.

You can use both but don't put BSD on windscreen, it will create a weird mark by the blades and both end of the swipe which is a PITA to get off, it's almost like a little glue residue.

Oh god NO!

had a mobile detailer chap come out and Polish up my car.

Sun has come out a week later and i can now see HOLOGRAMS all over the car.

Turns out he was crap, and not responding to me.

how can i fix this myself?

Can it be done by hand?

I don't mind buying a dual action polisher

Yes, a DA can fix it, you can do it by hand but it will take a lot of elbow grease.

That detailer probably used pads or microfibre that is dirty from a previous job with contaminants in them and caused all that holograms on your paint. If you use a DA with a light polish on a fresh pad it should fix it.

so how exactly would I use BSD? Normally I wash the car with AG shampoo conditioner, then dry using AG aqua wax. Would I use it instead of aqua wax, or after it?

You can use it to top up waxes or as a wax itself which is what I'm doing at the moment. I apply after drying but I believe some do it while wet, whatever works I guess ;)

Thanks mate.

Recently had to sort this on a mates car after he let a mobile detailer have a go on it. I used Megs #205 on a Lake Country hydrotech finishing pad via a DAS-6 Pro and they came right out.

Thanks mate.

Jap paint is generally very soft so only needs a finishing polish and pad to correct the vast majority of swirls / scratches.

Easy to overdo it and be left with loads of holograms, particularly on darker paint.

Das6pro. Menz po106 and a chemical guys hexlogic white pad will remove everything you can see.

I went mad and bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BYOVFIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also got the Wax pads and some extra polishing pads.

I have some G10 Finishing compound (will this be suitable)

I have a high speed mains drill i plan to use with it.

There seems to be some good reviews for this product, and i look forward to using it :)

My wifes cars paint is in a sorry state, so i will use it on hers too :)
