Looking for some advice here.
In a couple of months time I will take delivery of a new car, black
And I am certainly not a fan of washing cars, current one very infrequently.

But with a view to maybe trying to get myself into it a bit again what sorts of products would people recommend

I have some Auto Glym polish and super resin stuff I bough a few years ago to give an indication of my kind of spend limit as I know from years ago spending like £200 on some wax for the impreza there is no limit almost to how much you can spend.

I hear about these resin/nano type finishes that sound like they probably are worth my while doing as soon as I get it.

My biggest issue is that I cannot reasonably get a hose to my car, no water to the garage (or power) so its on the road and thats also a decent distance from the house, so the products need to be bucket friendly

Any/all help greatly appreciated

What car is it? I think for you you'd be best getting a professional to ceramic coat it. This will strengthen the clear coat (most say about 9H hardness) and make any wash marring a little bit harder to induce.

Its a TT
But when I looked at pros they want silly money for someone like me who isn't that fussed about it looking all detailed.

Maybe I should just stick with autoglym type level stuff which seems pretty strong value for money wise?

If you're not fussed then sure, just some fairy liquid and a sponge should do. £600 isn't really silly money when the benefits that it's going to offer you is immense.

With a ceramic coating, you'll probably be okay just going to a petrol station, jet washing it as a prewash, using their water to fill up your buckets with your own shampoo and doing a 2 bucket method, drying towel to dry the car then drive home and QD it over.

Autoglym srp and then collonite 476 for long term protection

The SRP I have, assuming you mean super resin polish, also have the extra gloss, but they seem to say go wax for dark cars and avoid sealants

Oh the collonite reminds me of the super expensive stuff I bought some years ago, zymol it was. Cost a bleedin fortune and I left it behind in a old house move :( That was for dark colours as well bleh

Thanks will look at the collonite.

So assume you would get a decent wash in, decent polish with SRP and then a few coats of this collonite stuff on a new car?
I may just get it before xmas (due to start build on 20th Nov) so as i am off over xmas i would get the chance then to layer it up

Looking at the reviews and description quickly sounds pretty much spot on for someone like me :)

Got some nice beading after a clay and wax on the weekend! Unfortunately the lighting confirmed I have some swirling and need to get the DA out in Spring! :(

How long do you guys spend machine polishing the whole car?

I know a few peeps that have had ceramic coatings, and in reality the protection isn’t all that much better than collinite or fk1000p.

Personally on a new car, keep it simple and give it a clay, then AG SRP and 2 coats of a hard wearing wax. That’s good for 6 months, in between after every wash use some sonax brilliant shine retailer and jobs a good un.

Wax + Sonax BSD top ups in between is the way forward. I did a clay + decon at the weekend and my AG HAD Wax + BSD was still holding up great with strong sheeting and beading, despite the wax being applied 7 months ago.

Rubbish. Mine is nearly a year old and still beads like new with ISM pro coating.

You can get 8 months out of collinite and similar, so its not 'rubbish'. I get 6 months out of FK1000P and thats doing 30-k a year arounnd scotlands grubby roads.
The protection is better with a ceramic as it’s a lot harder and protects the paint from damage.

So I disagree with a wax being able to offer the same level of protection for as long

that's because BSD on it's own beads and protects the paint really well for good 3-4weeks.

if you stop using BSD you'd probably see very little beading.

This.

Don't pay for dealership options/Autoglym lifeshine. Paid a professional detailer for a proper ceramic coat.
