The stuff I listed will cost all of £50 or so for enough to last a few years, take about an hour to do and will generally minimise swirling etc and keep it looking nice.

Can anyone recommend me a decent dual action polisher that's safe for beginner use and not really expensive.. been looking for into them and want to get rid of swirl marks and micro scratches. Looked at the das -6 pro not sure wheres best price for one

Loads of places sell the same DA under their own brand so it's just finding the cheapest one of those. You can get them in starter kits with a lot of the product needed for each application, try calling one of the places with a bundle and see if they can put something together for your needs?

So I bought some Bilt Hamber Wheel cleaner and also some Sonax Wheel Cleaner and compared both. Used one on one side of the car's wheels each and the Bilt Hamber wins, hands down. So much more chemical reaction with the iron on the surface, it is more like Iron-X.
Yeah thing is it's not chemical it's a pH neutral product :)

I just wondered how often people change their hand mitt's and drying towels.. ? Mine are both a couple of years old and seem ok but I guess by now they could be past there best. New (to me) car arriving Wednesday so was thinking of getting some new things

Some a-hole has rested their door against mine and left red paint behind, tried Meguiars stuff but it won't all come off, any suggestions?

I use Menzerna power finish to remove some defects from paint, works well on scratches and scuffs. You just add a little to a hand cutting pad and work until it's full broken down. You can go at it a couple times if needed.

The pad I use doesn't appear to be stocked any more. It's a Lake Country Orange light cutting pad, something like this would be fine https://www.juicydetailing.co.uk/hex-logic-orange-light-cutting-hand-applicator-pad.html

Lexus had a clean.

First day of holiday, so finally got round to claying the car.

It wasn't too bad to start with, except from all the dead flies.

Got a quick spray of Autoglym Polar Blast foam, then Autoglym Body Shampoo by hand and mitt.

I would usually leave it at that.

The amount of small tar, whatever, all over the car was terrible.

Not just big lumps, but a peppering of tiny ones also.

Was treated to Meguires Clay and Quick Detailing spray as lube.

After the drivers side wing!

Most of the drivers door, never mind that the sideskirt and rear door hadn't been touched!

Much better, all over. Ended up claying pretty much everywhere, the lower part of the boot lid was surprisingly bad also, the rear bumper extension was probably the worst, but forgot to take images.

All done for now, I got burnt to a crisp.

The next wash will be followed by some polish and protection, its fairly spirally all over!

Didn't really want to go too agressive as its only a year old, I'm surprised meguiars ultimate compound hasn't removed it to be honest, I apply it using a polishing sponge, should I use cutting sponge instead?

The mark is right on a door crease which makes it a little trickier to get rid of.

anyone recommend a decent polish with lots of fillers? had my car detailed a year or so ago and he couldn't completely correct it due to the paint being so darn thin!

he used more of a filler polish to make it look perfect which lasted a good while but its in need of a decent top up before I get waxing
