Just got my new car:D, so have ordered a few products to clean it.

I have ordered:

Quik Clay Detailing System
Hyper Wash
Supreme Shine Microfibre (single)
Endurance High Gloss Tyre Protection Gel
Luxurious Lambs Wool Wash Mitt
Scratch X (for scratches and swirl marks).

Would this be the correct order to clean the car in?

1. Wet the car down with water
2. Use the lambs wool mit + the hyper wash to wash the car.
3. Dry car down with Microfibre cloth
4. Use the quick clay detailing system
5. Scratch X to remove swirl marks ect.
6. Auto glym Super Resin Polish
7. Should i get something like a wax or sealant to protect my hard work?

Also with the clay system, I know its sounds stupid but how do you actually use it, do you just use the whole block and go all around the car with it, or can you break it off and use different bits for different sections (I have never used it before)

I took the bar out, cut it into small pieces, then put them in a cheap sealed container that you use for food, 25p or so from Asda/Tesco.

Then using one bar, sit it in some warm water and then kneed it slightly in your fingers.

Lightly spray the area you want to clay with the quick detailer and then just rub the bar over this area, you should feel it "stick" as it pulls away bonded contaminants from the paint. When the bar goes hard/cold, put it back in the water and then kneed it to a clean piece when warm.

There are instructions included with it and a good video available from Meguiars too.

I washed mine today to get rain marks off from last night, let's just say the water from the car was not the only liquid I was saqueegeeing out!!!

Seeing as everyone raves about Collinite 476s I just took the plunge and ordered a 9oz tin from eBay which came with two free microfibre cloths. Can someone tell me, how easy is it to apply? Is it best to use some sort of applicator? I'm guessing it's not a liquid wax so you cant just pour a bit on and polish it in with a damp cloth.

At £16 for the smaller tin, I don't want to waste any trying to figure out the best way to apply it :D

its solid wax, you get an applicator, dab it in, then apply to paintwork in circular motion covering the panel.

leave to dry/haze etc and buff off. simple.

Buffing it off my dad's BMW Touring took around 90 minutes I reckon. A good substitute for a gym workout.

the other half got her new car last week and i gave it a quick clean, hope you all enjoy

Nice cars, uncle has one in black! but are you really that short to need a step ladder for the roof? :D

Got a magic eraser today and used it on my steering wheel, worked pretty well, didnt go too nuts with it, but has a matt look to it now instead of being shiny.

Grip is still about the same though.

Its probably in the thread earler on, but where do you get them from? :)

Grrr why the **** is it still raining, for the 1st time in months i have a weekend free to sort the car out, and it hasnt stopped raining since Friday Lunchtime.

Ive even got some Menzerna samples to try out.

While im at it, Ive got a Milano Red Honda on order, its a brand new car so no doubt its gonna need some correction 1st:p But after that, can anyone reccomend a sealant or durable wax for it, Ive still got my tub of Colly 915 here, but the general concensus is that its only good for dark metallic finishes.

^ Yup. Theyre not as good as people make them out to be. Although they do lossen a hell of a lot of dirt of the car prior to washing.

was a good buy for winter washes, all the caked on dirty got softened up and more often than not came off before i had to touch the car.

For summer I'm finding its not really needed, just light dust on the car so not really worth it. Plus if the car is covered in a good wax, the foam doesn't cling to the car and just falls off!

i clean mine using car wash equipment from the car wash next to work, that way i dont pay for nething.
