5l is great, thanks - I wonder if I am asking the right Q though. Is Quick Detailer the best "spot cleaner" for things like bird poo etc?

I keep a 2L pump sprayer in the boot, gives enough pressure to blast off most deposits / bird droppings if there's a decent sealant or protection underneath.

Don't use it that often but does come in handy from time to time.

Other half has scraped the side of the car with a few stray twigs from some hedges she said, I can’t really feel the scratches (2) with my finger nail but it doesn’t look great and literally goes down both doors. Any ideas what I should use to maybe try buff it out ?

You can get dedicated PPF shampoo which essentially has some fall out remover within it, I assume PPF being softer than clear coat can leave it susceptible to having iron road deposits embedding into it.

I'm not sure polishing PPF is a good idea seeing as polish is an abrasive for removing microns of harder clear coat, and again PPF is soft. There are PPF coatings which I assume are designed to adhere to the softer and more flexible PPF surface.

I would look up the PPF manufacturer and follow their maintenance guidelines. Some of these PPFs have self-healing abilities and you wouldn't want clay and polish to risk that.

Thanks for the reply. No idea about what PPF has been applied. So I'm going to be quite careful with its care.

The only PPF shampoo I can see seems to be from Gyeon, knowing it can cost so much to install don't really want to bugger it up as it seems to be holding up quite well.

I've got a few mitts and stuff on it's way so looking forward to giving it a clean soon :)

Yeah I have the Gyeon stuff for my PPF but in all honesty, you're probably better off sticking with one shampoo for the whole car and a fall out remover rather than having a dedicated shampoo.

just wash and then polish the car, then apply a wax sealant

Something like SRP would do a decent enough job at masking it with fillers. Any all-in-one polish like Gtechnique P1 or similar and a foam pad with some elbow grease would do a fine job at actually removing the scratch from the clear coat and improving the appearance. Others will likely recommend alternatives. Can't say that it warrants anything more from the sounds of it.

Got bored so cleaned up the engine bay and put some plastic dressing/protection on the black bits.

Not knocking him, but it's well known people pad out their videos to put ad breaks in and generate revenue.

I enjoy his videos and don't mind a bit of waffle if it makes him a living.

A crazy amount of dust. Managed to find a bucket in work to rinse most of it off. Even though I looked ridiculous.

It should still be raining and wet when I get home, so I’ll get the hose on it before it dries on.

Edit: nvm, the rain and flooded roads did the rest. It’ll need a good prewash this weekend though and a good volume of water to clear out all the run off areas.

What did you use to clean the engine bay ? Did you cover up anything ?

I just sprayed some diluted all purpose cleaner onto a brush and worked it on the plastic areas and scuttle and then wiped off immediately so it didn't drip everywhere. Hoses etc I wiped down with a cloth.

Auto finesse verso diluted to 1:5 (I think) and 303 Aerospace protectant were the products I used.

Picked up a bottle of Sonax BSD - Rather pleased with the finish left behind since I can certainly see an improvement in Gloss/Shine/Reflections as well as the water behaviour being up there with some of the more expensive, more modern products.

I use a Meguiars Supreme wheel brush as I like the fact it's soft vs a nylon brush such as the EZ Brushes, but other microfiber style long wheel barrel brushes are available. I would say stay away from cheap knock-off versions of wheel woolies that you'll find in abundance on Amazon because everyone tends to find they fall to pieces very quickly.

My wheels are pretty open though so can get the Meguiars brush in pretty easily! I also use a 4 finger wheel mitt for the front and behind of the wheel face.
