so i looked up clay bars etc, the clay Blok seems to be the way forward
but the instructions seem to state must use on glass first before its ready for bodywork, so that means i must get it now, use on glass a few times, to get it ready for when i do a winter preparation

i see a lot of OCD people on this thread...brake calipers. :)

my main concern is what i can put on the car to yeild least amount of washing :D

What is your wash method @pc-guy to yield least amount of washing?

Had a look into all this Rinseless stuff mentioned in the above posts and does seem ideal for the summer months for a quick faff free blast.

This past weekend the dust was so annoying that put on some BH Autofoam via 5L pump sprayer and give a quick rinse and dust was gone. From a distance it looks fine as didn't want to do full contact wash due to time.

For me it’s Bilt Hamber for snow foam, wheels and shampoo. Then Liquid Crystal to keep everything shiny.

In winter months, I find the auto foam on its own enough to keep me going between bigger washes.

Actually current I don’t wash very often due to lack of time. So car gets very dirty and I end up at the car wash cos it is just too much hassle for me to do it myself - I am talking about the interior.

The plan is to wash and use synth wax then do monthly maintenance wash with wash/wax and top up with hard shell wax. Then do the wash and synth wax again every 3 month.

So my planned regime is the following
A PH neutral snow foam for prewash
Autoglym shampoo as the 3 monthly wash
turtle wax - wash and wax as the monthly maintenance wash
Turtle wax synthetic wax sealant 3 monthly applied with clay bar and IPA clean prior to application
Turtle wax hard shell wax monthly applied after the maintenance wash.

Windshield and glass will be cleaned and clay barred and sealed with geyon clear view monthly

Wheels cleaned with wheel cleaned (demon wheels - as I have these and it works and it is cheap) monthly.

Depend on the weather as well. If we get dry months like currently I may not need to wash and wax every month. Could just do with a quick snow foam and rinse to get the dirt off and while keeping the protection.

I was leaning to ceramic coating initially but decided it is best to keep it organic for now. Ceramic coating is not something I can manage myself due to lack of garage or indoor space to keep the car for curing.

My god, so much dust in the air recently, car is filthy.

I live in a very hard water area and no issues with water spotting in my car which is coated in CarPro CQuartz. Just dry it with a decent drying towel.

The amount of wax you're planning to use seems overkill to me.

Just top up wax when you start to notice the previous application has started to fail, usually evidential but the water behaviour when rinsing after washing.

I personally wouldn't recommend a pH neutral snowfoam, they don't do anything much for cleaning. You need some bite because you're not agitating the snowfoam. A decent wax will withstand multiple hits of a alkaline snow foam, BH claim their double speed wax will withstand 60 hits of their auto foam.

Wax wise, double speed wax or Fusso coat are known for good longevity. Although you could try a spray and wipe sealant also, rather than a wax e.g Garage Therapy Sigma V2. Little less involved application vs a wax.

Clay shouldn't be a regular thing, it's a mechanical way of pulling contamination from your clear coat with friction and therefore has the chance to induce marring. Clay is typically used to get a surface extremely clean before a paint correction so the polishing pad isn't picking up the embedded crap from the clear coat and rubbing it across the panel.

Therefore I wouldn't clay your windscreen either if you're coating it, you'll just be weakening the coating and having to reapply it sooner. Claying it if you notice the coating is on its last legs and you want to reapply from a bare glass surface would make sense.

Yeah will see what happens pre-wash and rinse and see if the sheeting is good. Otherwise the hard shell waxing is optional based on what residual is left on the paint sealant. Tho I think every 3month for a reapplication of paint sealant - especially for winter months is probably good idea. Anyway as said planned regime, all depend on how well the products last.

The key is to get the car clean start off with.

Getting a new car come December so want to see how the regime works on the current car and keep at it for the new car.

are you going to get the new car ceramic coated ?

if you do, then pre wash with BH would be good for summer, if you want to use a pressure washer / pump foamer

if time, contact wash then dry

winter then contact wash is always a good idea

hmm

was just about to place an order for a few things , looked at BH double speed wax, noticed it was 6 months, so i thought id get the Fusso, which is 12 months, but they've now changed it, its Fusso Dark and Fusso Light

my car is light, but next car will be dark, so i dont want to order both, not sure what to do now

Not tried the BH double speed wax, but heard a lot of good things about it. Just ordered BH quick detailer as it was on offer as well.

i was planning on it, but decided against due to the issue of spotting with hard water.

i think i will stick with waxing tbh as I am used to that and I do enjoy the process.

I've got a few very light swirls on my brand spanking new paint work, whats best way to get rid of them?

Will SRP be enough on a microfibre pad?

It'll depend on how light the swirls are and the hardness of the paint. SRP may not get rid of them per say, but will most likely do a good job of masking them as it has fillers in it.

you could buy distilled water, and use that in your bucket when washing the car as that should not leave water spots behind :)

You wouldn't even need to go that far, no matter how well I dry my car there's always trails of water that'll eventually come out of the nooks and crannies. I just follow up half an hour later with a quick spray of Koch Chemie FSE on the water marks (usually just under the wing mirrors and on the rear bumper) and wipe away with a MF cloth.
