The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

It worked for me. Did you change the ifpsclamp setting as well? Not the ini file in the game directory, but the one in the "my documents" folder.

Hi.

Actually - no....I didn't change the ifpsclamp value in that directory, only in the main game folder.

I'll go try it now.

Set it to 30, right?.

Well i did the radar dish :D

yay for this music, not sick of it yet. I am good now apparntly, not sure when that happened, thought id be a bit off good considering i slaughtered president dave of the republic of dave as i did not like him.

Might have differing results for different setups, but I changed the fps to 45, and my ifpsclamp to 40. Runs like a dream now. Initially when I set it to 30, it ran TOO fast!

Yeh i set 45/45 generally on both counts , most people should be just fine with 45 - 50 i feel 30 is too low!

.

Try 45/45 in the clamp and util if your frame rates generally are above 40... If they drop a lot below that then try a lower number.

p.s The ini in the main game dir doesn't do a great deal , you'll need to do it in the my documents one

Cheers guys.

I changed the ifpsclamp value in the correct .ini and along with Neils little bat executable startup thing it has cured the stuttering. Yay!!

But.......although the stuttering has gone, now when moving across any outdoors area, its as if the player is running through treacle or moving in sort of slowish motion.

Is that because I have not changed the fps value as well as the ifpsclamp one?.

Also, I had it set to 30, I will try 45 and report back.

Thanks again. ;)

Does the patch work OK for most people? On mine it opens a patch window, who's top bar goes to 100%, opens a dos window and a Fallout3 executable, but all three hang (they instantly become "Not Responding" in task manager). Left it like that for an hour last night and it did nothing.....

Set the fps in the GUI to 45 and the ifpsclamp in the ini to 45.

Now the player runs even slower ( or runs through even thicker treacle....lol...!!! ).

Is there a console cmd like show_fps or anything instead of using FRAPS?.

Would like to check what fps I'm actually getting, system spec in sig below.

I'm running the game at 1440x900 - everything on Ultra as far as I can see, the game actually picked that itself going by my system spec and I've notchanged anything in there at all.

Very strange that some are getting this slow mo strangeness even with the clamp and util as it works fine here , though going to 30 it does feel a lot slower to me though lol

Draeger , is vsync on?... Just thinking of ideas really

That should be fine.

When it patches it tries to open fallout 3, sometimes it crashes and sometimes not.

Bought Fallout 3 today, and I'm really impressed. The combat is awesome once I understood everything and it clicked with me. Shooting a guy's legs out then his head off in one VATS manouver is the most satisfying thing ever.

I love the obvious Vagrant Story influences on the combat. It's about time they did another game similair to its combat premise.
