Love the above argument on mobile phone usage at petrol stations.

Somehow we are ignoring that almost every modern (premium) car has a massive cellular radio that is constantly sending/receiving data.

We aren't as the radio in the car would be pretty darn difficult to drop

As has been explained, the risk came from (its pretty much eliminated now with integrated batteries) that if someone dropped a phone the battery could disconnect and create a spark as it did so.
