***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

You're all taking Raven's bait? As bad as him to be honest.

Not played this but had a quick scout on YouTube for the soundtrack, absolutely epic.

all the soundtrack i have heard so far is epic, its Hans Zimmer though, he is immense! his score for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was brilliant! haven't heard anything bad about this game yet, at least places other than this forum! :D

I'm waiting till it drops in price. Seems it's not such a cutting edge PC game as the original. Shame really as the last time I bought a new rig was just to play Crysis.

I'm quite happy re-playing Oblivion, Metro , BC2 @ 2600 on me new 27" till such time it becomes worthy of investment.

This whole streamlining of multiplatform games seem like a race to the bottom, where eventually everything will be so streamlined that the games cease to be games in any real sense at all. Most recent linear FPS games might as well be rail-shooting gun games like Time Crysis due to their lack of interactivity.

This diagram has been doing the rounds for a while, and sums it up for me pretty well:

It's like polishing a finely engraved piece of silverware so much that the engraved detail of the piece are lost, and you endup with something that's smooth and shiny, but has lost all detail and personality. We've seen this happen with a few high profile games recently.

It's probably why I'm playing more older PC games, ones from Eastern Europe, or the Indie stuff like Amnesia - they may not be as polished, but they have personality, and they're PC games, and designed for their specific audiences.

Still, Crysis 2 would probably stand up as a reasonably good game in its own right compared with most of the recent interactive cutscenes - sorry - linear FPS games, if it weren't for the awesomeness of its prequel.

Exactly. Good analogy. Do this. Go there. Autosave.......At least some games are still pushing the envelope though

To be honest, given that Black Ops took months to iron out PC Performance problems, I was suprised that my only issue with this game was creating an account so that I could sign into to the multiplayer 24 hours after it went live. Again, comparing this to Black Ops (the best selling game of all time), I thought the graphics were pretty awesome, and unlike Crysis 1, I got constant 70FPS at 1920 X 1200.

What is all the fuss about guys? I will be buying this game simply on principle.

It doesn't even have drop down boxes for setting gralhics? :O I can never be bothered to edit the files internally, usually because u have to look around for what to do

I just want to put in the dvd and play... I may be another waiting for it to hit £5

From the sounds of things it will be a matter of days before a 3rd party configuration tool is made for it. Pretty sure there was one even for the demo :)
Will end up being like those games where you set the graphical settings in the game launcher app.

maybe we will see these settings in the direct x 11 patch?

Also has anyone found a way to play this game earlier on steam?

Everyone seems to moan about it being dx9, but I have to say it looks brilliant.

The only thing I've noticed from the SP from gameplay videos/reviews is the death animation of the AI, it seems very quick and fake.

The other thing I've noticed is the AI response time, they seem to take a few moments to notice you.

I'm talking £4.99..... Anyway. It's a point of principle.
The principle being? You won't buy a game brand new unless it's a technical landmark?

I'm not sure what the PC community think Crytek owes them. They've made a game, one which people without an agenda seem to be loving on the whole, but many are feeling totally let down because it's shipping without certain graphics settings, or a few technical bugs?

Guess what? The original Crysis was one of the best games of it's generation because of it's gameplay - the visuals were just a very welcome part of the package. It wasn't perfect either, but it's many issues didn't stop it from being an absolutely superb experience.

It's shocking to see how many people are writing off this game as a whole for such minor problems.

So you more or less just said you would pay full price for it if you had to upgrade your PC for it, which would cost even more

The people who are moaning the most seem to be the ones who paid a lot of money for their graphics card that is not being pushed to the edge by this game.

In a way I'm glad they have fewer graphics options for this game, what people do is spend ages trying to tweak it/benchmark and waste time instead to actually playing the game.

The gameplay in Crysis was ok but the most notable thing about it was the graphics, which is what it will be remembered for.
a lot of pc gamers (Myself not being one of them) want something new to test their brand spanking new hardware on and this isnt going to be it.

That will depend on what difficulty the AI was set to I imagine.

The AI in Crysis weren't the brightest bulbs in the box until you set it to at least hard or delta, so it could be the same issue in C2.
