I'm not sure what the PC community think Crytek owes them. They've made a game, one which people without an agenda seem to be loving on the whole, but many are feeling totally let down because it's shipping without certain graphics settings, or a few technical bugs?
I think the problem is that because the first one set such a high standard graphically, people had their expectations set far, far too high for this sequel.
The config makers for Crysis proved that Dx9 is capable of some superb visuals, which is what we got & are getting again in C2.
Ok, it would have been nice to have dx11 support (whatever that may bring other than tessellation & lower fps ) from the beginning, but it's not exactly something worth throwing the toys out of the pram over is it...
If you were the CEO of Crytek what would you have done ?
1. Program a game that bring the Gtx 580 to it's knees to have the web brought to a standstill with fanboys whining that their hardware can't run it, and get, possibly, a million sales.
Or
2. Program a title that runs on 3 different platforms, looks pretty damm good on all 3 & means your company & workers have a future thanks to financial stability due to the combined sales from 3 platforms rather than just 1 ?
It's not a hard choice really, given the current financial state of the world...
