***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

In Warhead you got to fight with a squad of fellow nanosuit soldiers. Now it seems like you are the only one left. Where is Psycho and Nomad?! I don't like how they leave gaping plot holes between the 2 games.

Also, Crysis 2 still suffers from the same issue as the original where the AI seems inconsistent. You can stealth kill someone right behind their buddy and go unnoticed, but if you come out of cloak 500m away behind cover and your toe is sticking out they will spot you with their hawk eyes. I swear the big tri-pod robots always look at you too even when stealthed and behind a wall. If you go within range but stealthed, they have a habit of knowing you are there and continuously doing the EMP discharge.

I'm not finding the game difficult, but its lame and frustrating that the AI seems to have a sixth sense for locating you in stealth.

Yup they sure do. Game tells me to flank it, yet it won't let me as it just tracks me the entire time.

In the end I gave up trying and just obliterated them with a crapload of rockets and LMG ammo :D

Got this last night to see what all the fuss was about really.

Average at best is about as positive as I can be. I remember loading Crysis up for the first time and being genuinely blown away by the game, both SP and MP. Not this time unfortunately. Kind of wish I'd left it 6 months to allow for more patching and tweaking. Perhaps some more time playing it may improve my thoughts.

Also, am I right in thinking 16 player servers are as larger as it's going to get? If so, totally lame IMO.

this game seems like a pile of crap, i havent read what i call a really good review anywhere and this thread scares me; there is no way right now that i'm buying this game and i doubt that patches can fix it, especially the AI :(

I noticed they can see you as well, sometimes the aliens themselves seem to be able to see you whilst in stealth as well. managed to flank a Pinger on one occasion, cloaked deep in cover then carefully walked behind the building behind it, was busy shooting my squad mates up so got a clear shot at the 'weakness' or that power core thing on the back. noticed the ability to make footsteps much quieter helps immensely whilst navigating aliens in stealth, I think more than anything when your moving too fast they can hear you, rather than see you.

Also agree with the dude on about the alien technology from the first game, I for one dislike the different direction they took with the 'Ceph', also disliked the whole naming of them, made them feel much less alien, I mean how the hell would they know what they are called. why couldn't Crytek just keep the glowing blue, instead of switching to glowing red, keep some of the cool features the alien technology had from the first game as well, would be sweet to see parts of New York city frozen, those mad walker things clambering up buildings and stuff, though the second game was better. ;)

Edit: I think the aliens were changed due to the fact that so many people (many many on here) basically slated the game for that exact reason, so many people bashed the hell out of the final part of the game, guessing Crytek thought 'Hmm, seems the majority of people don't like our cool, somewhat unique aliens...maybe we should make them walk, and be way more simple and predictable...like the Koreans, everyone loved stalking and killing them...'

its far from a pile of crap, but I will admit (Xbox 360) has its issues, the AI can be dodgy sometimes, though most of the time its good and can be quite aggressive and brutal, crashes occur on my Xbox more than any other game I use it for, random disconnects from multiplayer games, getting kicked randomly from Xbox live party, they are just bugs to be honest though. there is also a somewhat annoying bug with the music, just as it leaves the lobby and starts up a multiplayer game the music goes insane, super loud and really bad quality...

Edit: have gave up trusting reviews since I read a one about Portal being a 'masterpiece' and its frankly terrible, Half-Life II is better but not by any stretch of the imagination a 'masterpiece' like so many reviewers make it out to be, the first Crysis got incredibly good reviews, but for some bizarre reason 9 out of 10 end users bashed it for the aliens ironically enough, preferring for some again bizarre reason to run through jungles killing clueless Koreans. all I would recommend is judge for yourself, don't let anyone ever tell you that something is good or bad. the first game was brilliant from start to finish, the aliens simply added another dimension to the game and were way more interesting to fight than the Koreans! put it more simply if you are an impossible to please PC only graphics junky then its probably not for you, if you enjoy a good FPS with interesting enemies and a quite intriguing story (not sure how so many people get confused by it...?) and you aren't bothered if a game does or doesn't support DX11 then maybe its worth a go, best advice would be if you have an Xbox 360 or a PS3, could rent it and try it out, PC version is identical except looks a fair amount better.

to me, all these faults i keep reading about put me right off, especially the AI....... NO i'm talking about the reviews here! i'm reading between the lines, i.e i've never read ``this game is fantastic, the best ever``.....only average

NOW THEN, the 1st Crysis wasn't good either... the AI was dreadful and from what i've read; Crysis 2 is even worst, the 1st game was one of the buggiest poorest shooters that i've ever played.

Crysis is all about pretty visuals, this is what sold the 1st game and what the developers ranted on about, it was never a quality shooter and never supposed to be.

these same guys have made this game too, well there you go.... another **** poor shooter, the visuals/textures arent nearly as good in this game, no, it's been dumbed down for consoles/ improved framerates on pc, which is what everyone complained about last time, you cant have it all !!!!

but, the building textures/aircraft carrier were crap in the first game too, it was only the island that looked beautiful/ water/ foliage/sunrises etc.

i knew this game would fail, the developers are not tactical FPS, plus our PCs are still not nearly powerful enough for full texture rendering.... only powerful enough in 5 years time!!!!

Just on this point it's made clear in the game that the name 'Ceph' comes from 'Cephalod' (squid, etc):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cephalopod

yeah I know that, but it sucks how 'matter of fact' they characters in the game called them the 'Ceph', the marines are better and more realistic since they just call them 'squids', but still terrible when monikers get given to something truly alien, the first game the aliens felt much more alien, no name, just creatures.

also its Gould that makes that point right? though Marcus would kill me if I didn't recognise Cephalopod since he is obsessed with aquatic creatures, he would be literally angry! :D
