***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

To anyone who has bout it via Steam - What serial key am I supposed to enter for online play? There's one called Crysis 2 LE and one called Crysis 2 LE Bundle. This is probs because Steam said I would be upgraded to the Limited Edition if I bought before the 26th (which I did). I'm assuming it's the first one, if so where do I enter the other one?

Oh and I've received the serial key already in use error that has been talked about.

This is definitely shaping up to be one of the biggest lumps of fail in PC gaming.. And for once I don't think it's going to be completely the result of PC fanboys exaggerating every little problem because one of their PC only devs jumped into bed with the consoles..

Great isn't it :D What a cockup it really is !

Well I went and bought mine from Tesco at midnight for the grand sum of £28.50 and thus had no issues waiting for steam to unlock or anything like that. I was also greeted by a 1.1 Patch on first run.

I'm quite impressed by it, but I can see why fanboys of the original may not like it, as there isn't really much in common between them, but to me as a casual gamer it feels better, especially with the opportunity to play the game how you like, but with a nudge in the right direction if you want it (tactical assessment).

A lot of my original annoyances seem to have gone, ie. you can stay cloaked for more than 5 seconds, although I'm not sure about having to manually select armour mode all the time :/

I just wish I knew why the Humans are trying to kill me too :(

Nudge? a nudge in the right direction, I went through the first couple area's seeing what they "nudge" you to do, it really makes smeg all difference, if you happen to go around and do all of them, well I can't be sure but several area's seem to have badly respawning enemies. IE i went round one side of the loop, could have "finished" the area, but did the other side and loads of guys spawned from where I just came from.

Textures as someone said, feel pretty crap up close, and theres lots of very "boxy" area's, rooms with incredibly "flat" really old school feeling to them, as in, done in games years ago they should be embarassed about.

I dunno, I played on Soldier, I hate games that make you play on a stupid difficulty to have any challenge, but then have those "moments" those impossible to see through last stand levels or whatever that are just painfully excruciating to play through on higher difficulty. Soldier level is so lacking in challenge its a joke though.

Theres some nice bits, design isn't bad, if you have rubbish textures AND horrible design you have nothing, but the area's I've seen so far are ok, if incredibly linear. The story so far is a massive let down, several bog standard cliche's thrown together.

It seems steam does not auto patch for everyone on first run ! force a file recheck and then all seems well.

The Game looks very good considering the low GFX card load (with nvidia anyway) I think they got it about right ;)

Surely game play and AI is more important that a few dodgy textures, which I've not seen, maybe it's an ATI problem.

Bottom line the Multiplayer is quite fun and the sp looks good but average game play for me anyway...Now time for bed ;)

Ok does anyone know where the Limited Edition bundle code is to be entered? The one that unlocks my fancy SCAR decal and bonus XP? Admitedly there's no rush seeing as how the online is fubar at the moment but I'd still appriciate knowing :)

Maximum Multiplatform Game!

Working now they have unlocked the UK versions. Graphically its a strange mixture. Stunning in places cutting edge DX9 but in others it has PS2 level texture work . Looks about the same as Crysis1/Warhead overall just a different style in places & slightly enhanced explosions. I was playing on Extreme which causes the GTX580 to ramp up the fans as it uses maximum shader count! Surprised the textures are so low res in many places some look really bad...much worse than the Crysis Warhead LOD background textures

I would say both Lost Planet2 & Metro 2033 DX11 modes look much better than DX9 Crysis2 right now.

Controls are really smooth (using a 360 gamepad as they designed all the onscreen button prompts around it!) & finding even Extreme @ 1920x1200 on a GTX580+Core i7-980X the FPS is very smooth & it applies some form of AA as there are no jaggies I can spot.

Gameplay wise its pretty tough on the easiest setting they want you to take a stealth approach using the suit a lot to hide. Checkpoints are a joke & wide apart! Got killed a few times & have to backtrack a lot which is a little frustrating.

Music is quite catchy (Hans Zimmer composed the main theme!) voices are pretty cool as well. Sound FX are loud with plenty of bass oomp ;)

Loading times are lengthy. Not as bad as Crysis1/Warhead but still long in places.

Its probably the best looking PC game since Lost Planet2/Metro 2033 but I can see it not getting the PC sales it probably deserves as its really Crysis1 cutdown for consoles & published on PC. Hopefully the Nvidia DX11 patch they have paid $2M for will show its true PC colours as right now its at best a Crysis1.5 mission pack set in small corridors in NYC (thats how they maintain the high FPS the levels are tiny).
