The CustomPC Media Benchmarking Suite

Mmm, I have a spare 74GB Raptor. Might try an extreme 5.4Ghz run. My crappy ram is definitely holding me back. Any know of a decent 2000Mhz 8GB low volt kit?

Any luck with that ? I am tempted to try myself but it would mean taking a HDD from somewhere.

My back up HD has a fair bit of important stuff on, so waiting for my bud to drop of a sata drive he does not use any more, the lads in the benching section use XP. :)

Oh I am indeed my friend, it is ON! Just about as much as I can eke out of my chip...

snip

Take that! lol :D

Right i gotta throw in a curve ball, tried again with 4 x 2gb @4.3 and couldn't get her to bench (was gonna try a tweak or 2)....

so.....

dropped back to 2 x 2gb and ran for 4.5, but no joy..even with an ill-bred overvolt

so tried this.......

hot damn..... how you liking them apples jamesgoss :p

please don't re bench and beat me-i'm starting to get scared now!! lol

For some reason my motherboard will let me set at 21 x ?!? But once I save and restat it drops back to 20 x ?!?. For some reason it continues to default to 20 x

Will be interesting to see what the 8 core BD can do when it finally arrives. I would expect an 8 core chip to whoop anything Intel have atm in a benchmark like this.

2 cores, 4 cores, 16 cores do not make a difference in this benchmark - it's all about raw speed baby. Check Andy's 990X score if you don't believe me.

yeah I know I'm one behind you in the league on a 2600k also just beating Andy. He is using an intel chip which is older tech compared to what BD tho. I just think it will be great to run the BD on the test just to see how it stacks up - win - loose or draw! its always interesting to see how all new tech compares.

^agree with seraph regarding ram timings. Ive seen some decent jumps in score by tightening my ram timings. Cpu at 4.2ghz on all runs. But raw cpu speed will certainly help as well.

My comment wasn't that it won't be interesting to have some BD in the mix, or that the new tech offered by BD won't make a difference. Just that this benchmark does not seem to scale well with more cores.

sorry but it's not about raw speed, ram timings also play a pretty big part too :)

Yep thats true as well. I know this first hand as I'm positive this is the reason why my score is lagging behind even at 5.3Ghz. I am however not sure if this is because of the speed or the latency or both.

Just finished putting my 2500K system together so thought I would bench it before overclocking or tweaking. I assume that the score below is not bad, considering everything is currently stock?

Image editing: 1640 points.
Video encoding: 2667 points.
Multitasking testing: 1459 points.
Overall score: 1922 points.

System is core i5 2500K, 1600Mhz ram, Corsair SSD, MSI GD65, MSI 6950.

Aftermarket CPU cooler and overclocking here I come!

Not too shabby a score at all. Have a look at the 'league' table in the OP of this thread, that'll give u an idea of how you're score fares.

wow, you can really see where these sanybridge chips are so much better than old skool:D

E5200 @ 3.6

image editing 1140
Video editing 1303
Multitasking 669
Overal 1037

Multitasking kills it lol
