The disappearance of Nicola Bulley

He drinking/being depressed does make sense. What did Sherlock say? "when you have eliminated all which is impossible...", and yet no one made the jump to "she was drunk" or "she wanted to die".

I think the first time suicide was mentioned here was yesterday. I think most people here at least are now going with the idea that she topped herself.

EDIT: actually no, it was on page 13

Not sure if anyone saw the TalkTV programme last night? I'll post it here.

I have to say the statement put out by the police about alcohol and the menopause seemed highly patronising to women. It's more a thing men say in private about women when its their 'time of the month'. To be putting it out in an official police statement, which doesn't on the face of it, seem to have any additional value to the investigation.

Is this actually your opinion? Because it sounds like it's an opinion which is inherited from somewhere. If it is your own opinion, which you've arrived at independently, I find that very peculiar.

I don't see how saying she was an alcoholic and going through menopausal difficulties is patronising to women. It sounds more like a statement of fact to me. I would, of course, say it was patronising to women if I was a journalist and trying to make myself appear superior. No offence meant to you at all, but it sounds like a line which could have come from a daytime talk show, LBC, a Daily Mail comment or Twitter.

Of course, you’re watching Jeremy Kyle..
I remember when he first came to Talk Radio on his first day. Hardly anyone would phone in, and the ones who did were insulting him.

Though the video I posted was interesting. You should watch it if you're interested in the case.

I think the police were left little choice. The public interest in the case almost demanded all the facts. Putting political correctness aside, she did have problems that may have cuased her to either jump or fall in the river. She may also have just decided to wander off to who knows where.
The family have paid the price for the public's relentless attention.

In passing, Kyle is the only person on the planet I would not shed a tear for if he fell in to a wood shredder!!

The police don't reveal information - oh my gerd! They're bungling the investigation and should be doing more than sticking to one theory.

The police reveal some information - what does that information mean? you're not giving us the full story.

The police reveal the full details - oh no! you shouldn't reveal such private information about her.

Got to love the internet sometimes

Yarp

The Police tend to give out the information they feel is necessary, and at first that's going to be fairly simple stuff because they don't want to publicise the private affairs of someone any more than they have to, they tend to give out more as time goes on because either they become aware of more or the importance of the privacy of the individual starts dropping in relation to the other needs/factors of the investigation.

If the police are being inundated with nonsense theories on their investigations number then they will need to/want to try and reduce those calls because they're wasting police time and potentially making it harder for someone who does have relevant information (as opposed to "have you considered she was abducted by Wombles") to make contact.

The information they've given out explains a large part of the reason why they launched an investigation so quickly and why they've focused on the river so much, because if someone is known to have a potential drinking problem then you've automatically got a much higher chance of them doing something without assessing the risks normally, or having an accident and being unable to recover from it the same way.

Coming from a lot of talking heads on the news today, theirs some bint Inspector who suddenly is a expert and knows everythgin abiou the case but said she didnt want to say anything before, but NOW feels shes has to.

The police should appeal for witnesses but otherwise shut up. They are on a hiding to nothing revealing anything in the current social media frenzy.

There is no "right to know" for anybody

Probably on medication of some sort + the drinking even in small amounts wouldn't help her mental state . :(
does it even have any rlevance ?
I'd imagine there's at least a dozen different ways to commit suicide than jumping in what looks like a fairly calm river.

I'd also imagine you would also do it whilst drunk and wouldn't think to leave your phone in a safe place, "I'ma kill myself but I need to make sure my phone is safe when I do it" probably crossed no ones minds ever

Written like somone that has no clue how severe depression works.

strange considering I was suicidal last year, I planned how I would do it in my head multiple times and always had the same idea also.
THen you should know first hand that not all people deal and go through the exact same steps you do.
Suicidal poeple make plans, book holidays, do the day in day out then...they go. Some plan it and a big sign is to look out for a depsressed person suddenly feeling very happy..usually a sign they have made a choice etc. Its different for all.
