The disappearance of Nicola Bulley

I have to say the statement put out by the police about alcohol and the menopause seemed highly patronising to women. It's more a thing men say in private about women when its their 'time of the month'. To be putting it out in an official police statement, which doesn't on the face of it, seem to have any additional value to the investigation.
Weren't you the exact guy who started this whole dumpster fire of a thread under the premise that the police were idiots because they'd come to their conclusions for no reason, and that if they did have a reason they should share it?

Sounds to me like you've been sucked in my the media hysteria actually.

And your in this thread because ?

not only that, but yes I am genuinely interested, in crime scene, detective workings, but not only that i have experienced personal trauma with an immediate family member who sadly took her life when i was young, so i have sympathy in that area if that's the way things are going.

I have not been sucked in to the media hype, its been forced upon, its in the news when i open the news app, if they didnt want such a public scope around it then they could have chosen not to make it public in which case a lot of people probably wouldn't be in this thread discussing it in length.

I never said the police were idiots.

I think some people think because I'm questioning the police on this particularly case is somehow anti the whole police. They seem to be not realising other ex police are also saying the same things as me.

There will always be some difference of opinion.
Chances are the other ex police are just as lacking in availability of details and facts as you are ;)

This makes sense now. Admittedly, I had my suspicions about the partner because I thought that his demeanor was shifty and he was hiding something, but now that these facts have come to light, I understand why he was uncomfortable in front of the camera.

When asked about Nicola as a person he went on about how she lit up everyone's lives etc, which I don't dispute, but the fact was that she was battling with addiction, was depressed and vulnerable. It must have been hard for him to put a positive spin on someone who was apparently suicidal.

I think that, with hindsight, the police should have been more forthright with the family and set expectations that, much as they don't want to sully Nicola's reputation, they need to make the media circus aware that Nicola did have mental health issues.

#metoo contingent on r4 news suggesting police are delinquent and this latest intimate news would subseqently dissuade witnesses friends being forthright.

ergh - NB's husband must have been consulted, if not, will be surprising if he does not disown police.

does it even have any rlevance ?
I'd imagine there's at least a dozen different ways to commit suicide than jumping in what looks like a fairly calm river.

I'd also imagine you would also do it whilst drunk and wouldn't think to leave your phone in a safe place, "I'ma kill myself but I need to make sure my phone is safe when I do it" probably crossed no ones minds ever

She had probably been thinking for a good long while about killing herself, not necessarily there, not necessarily then. One thing is certain, she was at capacity with what she could deal with. I would theorise that something that morning triggered her and it was the last straw that [literally] sent her over the edge.

A lot of suicides are spontaneous in the way that the victim did not necessarily mean to kill themselves right there and then, but they had still been thinking about it for a while and something sent them over.

That particular contingent are probably praying that she's been abducted by a straight, white male serving police officer serial killer.

If she was depressed, upset to the point that she wanted to commit suicide, she would likely not have been behaving in a logical way.

Saying “she would have done this” or “she would have done that” is pointless because someone who’s living on the brink, can just go off at the drop of a hat without any warning, and do the most illogical and unexpected things.

definitely!! She could have done all manner of things including swimming up the river before she drowned; anything.

He has a point. Not sure why the public needed to know this level of detail really.

The information was about to be released by someone else for a story, apparently. The police decided to get out in front of it with the family's permission, and as a result they've taken the flack for it instead.
