The other strange thing for me is people go missing every day. Why did this story gain traction with MSM, is it the added mystery?

I'm fairly confident that they wont find anything because I dont think shes in the river.I'm glad to see that forensic team I mentioned yesterday have joined the search. Now we'll see for sure if shes in the river or not.

He seems shifty:

The 45-year-old was last seen walking in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire, last Friday morning.www.bbc.co.uk

If this company, who have such a good history of locating bodies in water, use their tech and dont find her body, I'd feel pretty confident that means she isnt in the river.Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence
The only way to know for sure if she's in the river or not is if she's:
A) found in the river
B) found somewhere else
Not finding her in the river doesn't mean she's not in the river, it just means they didn't find her in the river.
It's been several days, she could be in the sea by now.
I would agree with this. The only issue is, we've all seen or heard the stories before where the most unlikely situation managed to happen. And that is the only concern here. :-/It would be extremely unlikely for the body to travel that far down river without getting caught up.
It is a bit weird that her presumably best friend is all in the press giving out information yet he seems all rather quiet.
Funnily enough I said exactly that to my other half, the moment the interview aired they said "I bet he did it" and straight away I said "your trouble is you've watched too many tv crime and detective shows, life isnt always an episode of Broadchurch you know"Or we can all jump to a conclusion based on watching too many TV shows....
I put it down to the unusually odd nature of the disappearance. Effectively disappearing in a tiny time window, whilst on a conference call. It makes it a little out of the ordinary, its not like its just someone who hasnt been seen for 24 hours, it is, as the boyfriend said, like she just vanished into thin air.Why is this so newsworthy though this particular disappearance? I've not been following it that much, just see snippets pop up. I don't really understand the controversy and interest.
The forensic expert claimed that when they have used sonar previously to find missing people they have found them within an hour. It's been 3 hours so far assuming they started scanning at 8am.
