The Division 2 - March 2019

There will be a story but The Division 1 really excelled in multiplayer rather than solo and I would imagine TD2 will be no different. Think of it in Path of Exile or Diablo terms, pretty tiresome and repetitive when playing for an extended length of time alone but way way better with friends

(Can probably include the Borderlands games in that analogy)

Excelled for people who like playing with others, it also excelled playing solo for people who like playing solo. I am pretty much done with D1 and did it all solo, enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone is different, but for those who like to solo all the enjoyment is there.

You are probably right there, its all subjective

Felt like an expansion to Div 1 than a full game. Pretty much same thing, same of everything old. At least if they allowed for both cities/maps to be used, since they have all the models and area done.

Couldn't you say the same about almost every game sequel ever though? You could argue the case that Borderlands 2 was pretty much the same thing as Borderlands 1, that Bioshock 2 was pretty much the same thing as Bioshock 1, that the Metro games as pretty much the same thing as each other, that each of the Total War games are pretty much the same thing, that the Assassins Creed series is pretty much the same thing as each other and so on. I mean, wouldn't you expect the sequel of a game to be the same thing as the previous title? I would, but maybe that's just me.

Come on now. Bioshock 1 & 2 were set in the same location, used the same assets etc. They were the same game with two different stories. That's about the worst example you could pick lol

You understand what a sequel is right?

I hope you do too? ME1 then ME2 then ME3? Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls etc. There are substantial differences between them, not just an Expansion like effort and same content, just different package? Goes pretty much for all products, can't sell the same thing in a different package and call it a new product?

Sure some of the bad sequels names... if they only bothered to change the slight look and feel is stupid. But at the same time it is like saying that Oblivion and Skyrim are the same.

So in DIV1 you were this bad ass agent in NYC and now in DIV2 which is literally just another city in the same story/continent, you are a completely different Agent? No link whatsoever between the two? They might as well bring out DIV 3 4 5 6 7..... every 3 years, with every single city in the US, then move to Europe and so forth. Milk it for the next 100 years.

Even Need for Speed managed to make racing from A to B different for... 20 odd games?

You can't please everyone. People that loved DIV1 like my cousin would buy the exact same game all over again if it was slightly different with no difference and variety whatsoever. Which he did/will with DIV2.

But wouldn't that strengthen the claim that you could argue it should be an expansion then? If we are saying that a game should be an expansion because its "pretty much the same thing"

My point is that you would expect a sequel to be the same thing, so Bioshock 2 being the same location with the same assets , wouldn't be unexpected. Which was my point.

Thats still a lot like Borderlands 2 compared to Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 didnt get much flak and was highly praised.

Understandable. Like your cousin, I am buying Div2 precisely because its like Div1 , which I got many hundreds of hours out of. Indeed if Div 2 had been significantly different to Div1 theres a chance that I may not of even purchased it. Wouldn't be the first sequel that I didn't buy because the devs tried to change the game to shake things up and ended up making what made the first game so good, end up so crap.

It was the same thing and yep i agree :)

I think you would expect them to be quite similar, which is where The Division 2 is IMO and that's perfectly fine by me. Bioshock 2 though...totally extracted the urine.

I liked Bioshock 2, thought it was a good game :D

It was Bioshock Infinite that I didn't really like, not sure why...initially I really liked Bioshock Infinite but then after about 2 hours into the game I just went right off it. Still haven't completed that. Wonder if there will ever be a Bioshock 3 (or I suppose it would be 4 if Infinite is counted as 3)

Game obviously similar-its a sequel.
Its like to say,Forza 7 is same as Forza 6 as there are same tracks, same cars etc..And yet,its diferent.
Played enough to see how different TD2 is compared to TD1.
