The Division 2 - March 2019

Hello

Well, I decided to give this game a run and quite glad I did. Never played TD1, but enjoying this.
I'm only level 4 so far (been killed a few times). Is there any way to melee??? Those gits that charge at you are really causing me issues, I get into panic mode as I try to run away and my gun always runs out of bullets at the exact moment they're in my face!! Any tips on how to deal with them? I've got a shield which helps. Maybe I should switch to keyboard rather than steam controller

Yes you can melee, it will be a configurable key mapping option.

My advice would be keep your eye on the map, it will indicate incoming enemy directions as well as if one is on top of you (the red border will surround the map). They also make quite a lot of noise when charging so listen out for it and melt them as they rush you. If your gun runs out of ammo, quick switch to pistol :)

Other than that it's just a case of keeping your eyes peeled.

Kb and mouse should give you greater control and reaction times.
However, if the steam controller works for you and you enjoy it or need to use it for whatever reason then stick with it. I expect more accuracy will come with practice regardless of the input method.

There may be other tips people can offer, but if you aren't hitting most of your shots then increasing your accuracy through practice will help a lot.

Amazing game. I'm not fond of the majority of Ubi's games, but Siege is one of my favourite multiplayer experiences in recent memory, and now this.
I'm surprised by how fun the gameplay is. 'Cover shooter' in my mind is negatively tied to boring last gen console games. But there's so much **** going on at times, and positioning actual matters, amazing cover animations, etc.

I just hit WT2, fair to say I'm addicted to this game, and I haven't even touched the Dark Zone yet. (The world tiers seem kinda pointless tbh, you progress through them so quickly.)

I did the wrong sequence of missions and now the one I need to unlock the clan is level 6 and I'm level 5. Tried it but way to easy to be killed, particularly when rushed by two shot gunners covered by a sniper.

Looks like I'm going to miss out on a clan spot in number 2. It's going to be at least 2 more days until I get level 6.

@chrcoluk - could you let us know on here when 2 is full?

Cheers

You can give me your username as well and I will see if its possible to invite you, if it is I will leave the invite in place with 49 members.

Another daft question but in my inventory menu I have a flashing banner that tells me "New Skills available at the Base of Operations" I am at the White House but really do not have a clue where I should go?

There is a guy at a desk on the ground floor of the White House IIRC - might have changed since I played the beta - the first bit of the game should have taken you to him with a way point.

I think the ultimate tip is just knowing your surroundings.

There can be times when if you're taking a control point that you get enemy spawns in front as well as behind, so you've always gotta be on the lookout.

If you're constantly running out of bullets, then maybe look at some of the LMG's with larger mags. Also practice burst firing rather than just holding down the trigger. There is a mod that does extend the magazine sizes which can help a treat for ARs. I find my 60 bullet AR takes ages to empty the mag when burst firing.

Also well worth practicing deploying skills, the turret can be a massive help here, both the automatic and incinerator are great at holding enemies away, i'm not overly keen on the sniper turret.

I tried the chem launcher that all of reddit raves on about for healing but I feel its nowhere near as good as the drone, you have to aim the launcher and it doesnt heal as much, in the heat of an emergency just launching the drone without aiming is much easier. Plus it sticks around a while as well.
