I don't know why people are still moaning about the headshot stuff, it was never that type of game, headshots still drop most mobs quickly, it's never going to change and would have been awful for this style of game anyway.

Enjoyed the beta more than I expected to, lots of potential with this game, still have some reservations due to it being ubisoft. I like the fact it's not forcing you to need full teams to do missions and giving you the option to solo if you wish.

Exactly it's more like a modern day Borderlands with a real world setting, rather than the Cartoony/Cell Shaded look.

Because it IS an issue for some people clearly, myself included. It is a total immersion killer.

Is this something you can play as a solo player?

I don't have any friends on Uplay or people that I game with and being in NZ with a brutal time difference, playing with the dudes I used to play with back home don't work.

Yeh there is a single player mode dunno how good it is though just buy it on steam :D

This was never sold as a realistic shooter, it's an RPG. If you went around one hitting everything then there would be no point in collecting better items to do more damage. You could literally get the first pistol and just get one shot headshots. I'm sure that would be really "immersive" gameplay. :D

I was annoyed at first too, I thought it was going to be "realistic" but after playing the beta, I'm pleased it is the way it is now, get better guns etc. and you can drop people quickly enough especially with a good sniper rifle.

Tempted to upgrade my GPU for this, thinking a 390...

Pointless move from a 970. Better going with another 970 or going for a 980ti

Ideally you should wait for polaris/pascal though!

Saying that, I found the closed beta to run really well on my system, iirc with max settings @ 21.9 2560x1080, I was getting an average of about 40-50 fps with a few dips to about 35 in some areas, with some tweaking and turning AA etc. off, I'm sure I could get 60FPS for 90% of the time.

Hmm, suppose. May have to think about getting a gaming laptop shortly anyway.

Because getting headshots requires zero skill eh!

It may well be an RPG, which I have acknowledged, but it is also a cover based shooter. The cover mechanic itself would also be made more important if players knew a headshot was taking them out.

It was never sold as a realistic shooter? The name Tom Clancy being attached to the game suggests it should have a reasonable amount of realism, I would suggest.

Then they should have had the brains not to make the weapons super realistic, and have some made up guns "similar" to real weapons. The dichotomy between the realism they've striven for in the gun model design and the lack of real world ballistics is quite bizarre, and yes for some its a total immersion killer.

If you attach Tom Clancy's name to something, and detail weapons like they have, you imply realism. It's that simple.

What would be the point in upgrading your items to do more damage if you could just headshot with a pistol. It's hardly difficult to shoot the AI with headshots. Regarding 'Tom Clancy' isn't he a novelist that writes 'realistic' novels without actually serving in the forces himself? I could be wrong, I don't know that much about him. Ubosoft will tie anything in with his name because it sells.

The weapons arent super realistic... You try running with an ak-47 and firing in real life and see how that goes. This game appeals to the RPG audience because they can see the numbers coming off targets, they see the numbers getting bigger through upgrades and you see progress that you're able to kill targets quicker. I personally like it. We are humans, each to their own and all that. Maybe they could include some head armour for mobs and that would appeal to both sides then.

So if they made it completely realistic the enemies would be able to kill you instantly too. Not sure a game like ARMA based in a city would be fun. The Dark Zone especially.

Headshots are important and with a decent weapon they don't take long to take down at all. It's a difficult thing to balance, between realism (or you end up with something like Destiny, wholly unrealistic as it's a Sci-Fi based Shooter where shooting an alien twenty times to kill them but this can be easily explained away with techno-babble and suspension of disbelief) or something realistic but either frustrating to play (I died so quickly I couldn't do anything, that's so unfair!) or with dozens of enemies because you can kill them with a single well placed shot because, lets face it, your average Rioter isn't going to be packing body armour so even an Assault Rifle round to the chest will kill them instantly. Not much fun IMO.

Making a game based in the 'real' world, with realistic weapon choices and damage would be incredibly dull IMO. It would quickly become a 'turkey shoot' with upgraded weapons other than in the Dark Zone or it's in-game equivalent. if you could kill a PvE enemy with a single shot then coming across a group of 3 or 4 Rioters would be easily taken down without any threat, especially if you have some sort of marksman or sniper rifle. I enjoyed the RPG tones of the game but making it more realistic wouldn't work IMO.
