I agree with the others. Graphics seem nice on the eye for me. Especially when walking down a road and having the sun beaming down for some lovely looking reflections of buildings etc. Snow falling and the lighting is pleasant.

Groups are 4 max. That said, groups can team up, so you can be up against 8 or more dudes.

There are 24 players max (plus all the NPCs), for each Dark Zone you're in. They're split into DZ brackets by level, and your DZ level/rank increases independent of your character level as you do stuff in the DZ (murderings, etc etc).

There are mumblings of 8-man raids, but this won't be til much later on.
 
I would have sworn that the character models had had a bump in resolution or something, things look a little more high res but it might just be me. I'm happy enough with how the game looks, it's nicely atmospheric and the new mission looks great underground.

Had a great time with 4 friends all afternoon, when we decided to go and do some PVP surviving on the Rogue timer was hard work, I feel like they've made a good balance and there is a real consequence to opening up on someone. Accidental hits are now a short timer too, so you need only run 100m away to clear it if you make a mistake.

Still really looking forwards to this releasing in case you couldn't tell! :D
 
Oh dear mother of god.....why can I not skip the intro videos, why does it go then into character creation? This is all without letting me into the video settings which have launched badly so I can only see the top left quarter of what is being rendered.

Hopefully once I can clear that I might like it!
 
Anyone else play the closed beta and are now getting much lower fps?

In the closed beta with everything at high I was averaging about 45-55fps, rarely it would dip down below 40. Now in the open beta it's basically never gone above 40 on high, I get more comparable fps now on low...

It's also jerking around a lot.

Also I don't know if I'm just imagining this but it didn't seem to look as good either.
 
so after more play time my thoughts have changed a tad,,,i loved doing the story missions with other players but whats the exact point in the dark zone? I seem to be running around aimlessly shooting the odd npc,,collecting what they drop and calling in a chopper to take it away,,,everyone just seems to be doing the same? running around like headless chickens with no real mission or anything lol


once your in the dark zone how do you get back out? as I think I want to do some more side quests,,,better than this aimless nonsense haha
 
Got to level 7 and came off after playing a bit with two other people which certainly made the single player part of the game much easier.

I thought the graphics really good, probably right up there with the best IMO. Had it running on highest setting, 1080p at mostly 60fps, and minus a couple of hitches into the 50's now and again it performed fairly well. Also ran the beta on my daughters PC with i3 3225, 8GB ram and GTX970 and it was more than playable at high settings although I didn't have a frames per second meter up to see how it was performing, I'm guessing it was around 30fps - 40fps.

I did notice one thing though, the game seemed very taxing on my CPU... Probably the only game I've played that made my CPU hit just under 70 Celsius! I'm pretty sure it wasn't maxing out the cores either which was weird.

For now I'm unsure if it's a must buy. It seemed really fun at first, but I wonder where will the game go beyond what you experience in the beta? It could all get a bit too samey... There isn't much variation in scenery or enemies so it's worrying that there may not be much to stop me getting bored after a few days. Also the story is unclear, I felt like I was in an open world with no real meaning.

Hopefully the review will put my doubts at ease, but I'm definitely not sure I will get this.

Also I know zombies have been done to death, but I feel they would have been awesome in this open world! lol :(
 
bored of it now lol dark zone is pants and the main missions is really only good in coop,,,its like another destiny all over again,,,so much promise only to receive a fun ish game that gets a bit samey :( ahh well,,,

I know its only a beta but I also think it gives a good premise of how the game is and will be,,,im sure the final game will get repetitive,,,dont think I'm buying it
 
Played about 3 hours and now uninstalled. Graphics looks rubbish, even on Ultra (or whatever it's called) settings. I had a weird resolution which was beyond 1080p to start with and it look pathetic. Dropped it back to 1080p and it looked a bit better but still poor. And this is coming from a guy that still happily plays 10-15 year old games.

Anyway, that's a minor.

Dark Zone = pretty crap from what I've seen. Missions ran OK but easy as hell. Performance was very hit and miss. Would get massive slow down and stutters randomly before running silky smooth again.

I'm positive that it'll all be fixed in due time but I've seen nothing that makes me want to spend any money on this game.

I'll pick it up again in a year or two when it's 5 bucks or free and littered with micro transactions where you can buy a colorful hat or pink gun or whatever rubbish they'll inevitably dream up.

Having fun with this, dark zones are madness. No idea how anyone extracts at all, every time i've tried I have been mauled by about 3 parties from all angles! Need a bigger group!
