*** The Division Thread 2.0 ***

Just seen that 1.5 contains dx12  Seeing people reporting pretty big fps boosts too!

Great news this especially for me as this is one of the very few games to push my i5 750 @ 4GHz.

Lasted all of about 3 mins in Survival. Was dying of cold and found a barrel nearby to warm up...four Rioters were also there so it was a case of dying v them or the cold.

Interesting concept, not something I am usually interested in, but nice to have an alternative to the usual formula.

My Frankenstein 229 build handled the little bit of 1.5 open world I did...enough to know that progression will be possible.

I can only get between 60-90 mins a day to play, so there are so many choices of what to do now, it's tough! They desperately need some form of inventory management system/companion app...spending precious gaming time orgainising a stash isn't as much fun as actually completing content.

Cheers,

13 hours in and up to level 10 now. I think I have literally opened every crate, read every bit of crap I can pick up. I'm a sucker for going for 100% in these games. I could be much further along but I'm enjoying taking my time.

Have to say its so stable and smooth, not a crash or anything. On top of that I think the animations are superb.

In some ways I wish the survival dlc mechanics were part of the main game I.e. a bit like dying light, when night comes, you get more experience but harder enemies etc. However, with division, have it so that when snow storms come in, you have all those mechanics I.e. harder enemies hunting you, having to be mindful of temps thus going to fires etc. And then loot is even greater at those snow storm times.

So I'm 30 hours in, level 25 and really enjoying it. Stats aren't great compared to you hardcore players but here I am:

I can see that being added as a world tier later on tbh, would be pretty awesome

Ok colour me I'm finally impressed, just read about 1.5 and watched some videos...wow is all.

This is the game TD should have been all along, massive focus on proper survival, a true Battle Royale setting based in the coolest game environment ever. But why is this just a mode that lasts an hour. This should be how the whole game works IMO, a new York DayZ. Look forward to playing this when it downloads. 1.5 will bring me back to TD for sure....and dx12 you say hmmm nice.

Survival is keeping me up way too late at night lol!!!! I absolutely love it.

I managed to complete and extract in survival tonight solo, was thrilling and scary at the same time when the hunters appeared. I had the feeling I had when I first stepped in the DZ for the first time, and the accomplishment of the first extraction :)

I want to play more solo but more than that I want to play more group survival. My problem with the group is that resource gathering is hard and takes twice as long if not longer than when I'm solo so I had an idea.

Group lands in survival, they grab their meds and initial fabric, leave the safe house and split up with the intention of crafting their dz mask, and getting a skill. Once everyone has that, reconvene at a dz entrance.

This way we get to group up for the bit that requires teamwork, but get the advantage of looting solo in the lz. We wouldn't even need to be that far apart, adjacent streets or something like that. Or even go 2 teams of 2 or something. (maybe the latter to have more eyes on the environment and players)

I can make it to the DZ everytime solo now and I know a few others can as well so this might work! Thoughts?

Anyone with an AMD card and access to the PTR able to do a quick bench in live and then in DX12 on test please? Interested to see the performance

Makes sense they added DX12 support if they are going to use a lot of heavy fog and snow effects imho

Well tried out DX12 this morning with everything on max and sitting at 60 fps with drops to 50 ish but need to check more area's but so far, as an NVidia user, DX12 is looking good.

Not 100% sure josh but don't think there is any ETA just yet, I think it is expected at the end of this month though....

I'll be installing PTS later tonight so will report back on how it is for my i5 750 @ 4ghz and 290

Thats on your 1080 right Greg? what Res? 4k? From the one bit i read a guy tested it on a 970 and said it only increased fps slightly but it was a lot smoother, which fits in with the usual DX12 improving minimums and frame latency etc.

Guessing its still in its early testing phases as they have not officially announced its support.

Nexus, will be interesting to see your results on DX12, im betting it will allow to me to tun up some settings @1440p on my 290.

Yer, 1080 at 1440P.

Not sure about smoother but it feels nice but that might just be a G-Sync thing Si. I still need to run DX11 to compare but looking good so far.

I tested DX12 last night on a single card (as SLI utilisation in this game is crap)

1440p - same settings - on ultra - I feel on difference between the two at all with adaptive vsync on or off.

4k - there is a 15% increase in GPU memory utilisation between the two modes, but that only related to a 4-5 FPS increase at best.

Forgot to add to that Survival advice post one very important thing - craft that extra contamination filter - it will save your life ;)
Besides, you can loot dead agents in contam areas who didnt did this - last night i looted 3 dead agents, they gave so much good stuff, that i extracted with 37min left :D
