The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Not sure whether to cancel my Simplygames preorder and go with Asda, i am not that bothered about the map but it would be nice.

Did someone say there was a discount code?

The Witcher 2 showed that Dx10 and 11 support is over-rated tbh. Wouldn't surprise me if a Dx11 patch is released down the line with this one.

It's not over rated, both DX10 and DX11 are much more efficient APIs and would allow the games to run faster, if utilised properly. It's the very reason why BF3 plays so well.

No, DX10/11 CAN be more efficient, and its not the reason BF3 plays so well, its a well designed engine.

Either way yes dx10 and 11 ARE over rated, people for some reason think the DX version trumps the quality of the design work. You can make a tree in dx7 or dx11, if you draw/design/build a crap looking tree, it will look crap no matter the DX version and a great tree can look great no matter the DX version.

There is this attitude amongst gamers often when talking about new games that because a new game isn't using the latest API, it can't look good, and it would look better with say dx11 over dx9/10, which is all nonsense.

I already said it can be more efficient if utilised properly.

Don't you read?

And ofcourse a badly designed game will look bad no matter the api, I didn't say anything of the sort.

Captain Extrapolation is your new name.

that's what he said, the engine is built well in dx10/11 so works well.

yes but a tree of equal quality can be achieved with less overhead in dx10+ so you could have more trees.

well it's not, it would be able to look better because they could add in more stuff to use the same level of resources.

but that market isn't the one they're going for/the extra cost is considered too much.

Guys, Skyrim does use DX11 optimizations on the PC.

Its a DX9 engine for consoles, but like Battleforge has DX11 tweaks to improve performance on the PC (just no tessellation or direct compute stuff).

And really, could people stop with the Streams? It isnt cool.
