The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Hmm, Tesco aren't on that list of pre-order sites, I wonder if my pre-order will contain it :(.

EDIT: Listed as "The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim - with bonus Premium Physical Map" :)

I emailed Ziip about the map as they were not on the list of official pre-order sites.

"Hi,
We are receiving our stock from Bethesda's official UK distributor and they will contain the cloth map. The map will actually be in the box (unlike Brink, were they dispatched them seperately).

One day, we'll be as big as GAME and other retailers, enabling us to list our brand on the official websites. We've only been operating since March, and whilst we've received very positive feedback from within the market with our initial turnover and quanity of sales, we still have a hill to climb to be fully recognised with the big boys in the business. We're getting there though :)

Thanks for your enquiry. If there is anything more we can help with, feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Any chance someone can copy & paste the official list of pre-order suppliers? Due to some pretty draconian web filtering offshore I'm denied access to the site and I want to make sure I get the map when I pre-order.

thanks

Edd

The Elder Scrolls games are some of the most open games of any game/series out there, even more than most MMOs.

Exactly the opposite.

I played Oblivion for nigh on 200 hours and didn't even start the main quest line.

Always PC, the modding community is the best reason for this choice.

Other than that, it's nothing like a MMO. After your first quest which is simply to get you to grips with the game, you are let loose on a HUGE world... You can go round killing everyone, you can go round picking flowers, you can go join guilds, mages guild, fighters guild, dark brotherhood guild...

Or, you can do the main story quests, even then you can just stop half way through and go about your way again...

TES have always been famous for letting you play the game the way you want.

Thanks for the info guys.
It sounds like it could be fun, I may have to look into pre-ordering it for PC.
I know you say the world is vast and you can join guilds etc but are you able to play with real people in game?

No, and imo that is a good thing. The Elder Scrolls should NEVER be an MMO or anything close - there are plenty of other games out there for social interaction and the Elder Scrolls definitely doesn't need it.

So, with this being on steam, what happens if you get this a day early? Will it not install or just not play until midnight on thursday?

Steam always sets it's games to pre-load a few days to a week before the actual release. So when you put your code into Steam before the release date/time, it should start downloading it, the game will also appear in your library.

You won't be able to play it until the release date/time though, what will happen is a smaller update which will activate the game will be downloaded around that time, or at some point afterwards, depending on server load.
