The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

From the shots I have seen, there are some that look stunning. There is a lot more to a game than graphics, and inevitably the modding community will add to them - as they did with Nehrim ;)

Hope the modders jump on this quickly.
Going by the screen shots the textures are not a high resolution at all.

The focus is of course gameplay but I did expect better than this. Unless all of the screenshots were from the xbox version and PC will get a high res pack perhaps?

I thought I'd share a few memories from the past regarding TES. :)

Daggerfall%20and%20Reguard.jpg

My Daggerfall and Redguard manuals which I got in the years that they came out (so Daggerfall was in 1996 and Redguard in 1998).

I cannot find my manual of Morrowind right now (it's hiding in the cupboard with my DVD of the game).

Here are three images from March 2006. On the day I got my Collectors Edition of Oblivion and I posted the pictures here on OCUK that same morning (I took the morning off to install the game).

With that hardware I'd be surprised if your game could cope with Skyrim!

Think about it, on the bed or sofa with this on your lovely big TV :D My monitor is 2560x1440 but this still seems appealing.

As I have said in the console section lads, I will be posting up a Hovis shot when I get home tonight, grabbed a copy of the game from a mate on Friday :D

It truly is brilliant, very polished and bloody superb! I have dropped BF3, Batman, Dark souls and any other game to play this and I cannot pull my self away from it.

Tonights adventure, get into the Dark Brotherhood clan :P

Sounds like badness to me?

Does this game use the same engine as Fallout 3? From watching the videos it does have that 'feel' about it, I know it's made by the same people so that was probably going to happen.

I think its safe to say if anyone posts spoilers in this thread before release an ocuk mob would be outside thier house with pitch forks and torches.

Enjoy it anyway :)

It's the Creation Engine, which is a complete rewrite of Gamebryo.

I don't get you sorry??? My hardware of 2011 is more than a match for Skyrim.

And my TV in the other picture, of course I've updated it.

Have you preordered the 4xCDs of the Skyrim soundtrack??? I'm seriously going to press the buy button when I get home. I enjoyed the Morrowind and Oblivion soundtracks (which I then un DRM ed as I use them for my own use).

Guys, I've got a controller (not an XBOX 360 one, and not sure what make). Does it have to be the 360 controller to play this game, or can I use any other (good) one like the one I have?

Nope, he usually gets early copies and always posts hovis picture.

I like my Hovis, what can I say? hehe.

Lucky man :) Chill with spoilers though :D

I wouldn't mate, such a game is not meant to be spoiled, the only things I will talk about are the games mechanics, graphics and overall gameplay.

In a seriously short statement and in my opinion, I want them to remake all TES games with this engine... It's that good :D

I had a reason to climb a mountain last night whilst playing, and I looked at the mountain only to see bellowing clouds forming and moving over the peak at a swift rate. Knowing this would be a pain as when you are up their with a storm, you can barely see infront of you, it really drags you into the sensation that you are in a storm on a mountain side.

So, I did some other things, collected some flowers, explored some dungeons, slept at the inn at 10pm, woke at 8 am, looked back up at the mountain and no clouds, ventured up and it was a lovely day :D

The weather system is brilliant lol.
