The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

At least you dont have a fist sized lung swelling being melted away into gooey mush by Amoxicillin, and spreading fever throughout your arms, shoulders, chests and legs at the same time :D

.....

Mumsie caught it, and she looks like death too :x

Oh that sucks.

Skyrim can cheer her up though. >_>

Depends what you have. We specifically got an AMP that had 6 channel analogue inputs for the htpc (coming out of a soundblaster x-fi elite pro). But you could also encode to dolby digital and output over optical or coax

I need that again in English

How the fudge I passed my Music Tech minor at uni I'll never know :p

I see piano. I press keys. Thats all I know.

Popped into gamestation tonight to sort my preorder out and they look like they are getting the hardback LE guides in as they are 1/2 price with the game and £19.99 @ half price.

That made my day a bit worse, 3 main stats....cmon :(

Can't be a bad thing and having the perks sounds more fun and opens up more character options as the game goes on. I wonder if you will be able to retrain your perks like talent points in mmorpgs?

It was a real pain to develop your stats progressively in Oblivion, especially if you picked your skills, class and starsign poorly and started levelling far to quickly to be useful against the mobs which were levelling with you.

Even if you weren't trying to balance level, you could find yourself wasting levels and only gaining 1 or 2 stat points instead of the maximum especially with things like luck having quite an impact on your damage multiplier.

With a skill system in place stats arent really important imo.

Leveling up destruction magic means you are better at destruction magic.

Unsure if there will be an ingame mechanic to do this, pc gamers will probably just be able to pop the console and reset perks though.

Not even sure why I pre-ordered it tbh. Not even scratched the surface of bloodlines yet. Time I get round to playing this it will probs be half price on steam :)

Seriously, perks are so much better than the old morrowind / oblivion system were.

The new leveling system in Skyrim requires absolutely no micromanaging at all - you simply use the skills you want, they level up, you level up, and instead of increasing stats you pick perks instead.

The old system was terrible, and encouraged grinding and OCD micromanagement to get 5x multipliers each level. It completely ruined immersion, and killed the feel of the game for OCD perfectionists like me.

Just because the stats and multipliers are gone and replaced with perks in this case doesnt mean that the game is being dumbed down. Most of the perks I've seen so far look fantastic, and the number of perk combinations and character customization makes the game far more replayable than the old system did with 'Level everything to 100 and do everything on the same character'.

Similarly with spell making being removed, which I seriously hated at first, there is actually now far more spell variety, and the spells in Skyrim are a combination of D+D and Diablo style games - you have chain lightning, magic circle of protection, fire storms, meteor swarms and lots of suberb classic RPG spell types that were completely impossible to implement into the old system where every spell was identical but with a different number and damage type.

I've been staying unspoiled so if this is true I am very happy since the spells in morrowind and oblivion were awful compared to dnd games.

Just got my Projector and 120" screen setup ready for this :D I've managed to avoid any previews so far so can't wait to get this fired up especially after MW3 has been a real let down.
