The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Ive been playing for a little while now and the game is fantastic but i cant seem to spend my perk points ,can anyone please assist me in how I actualy spend my perk points as i currently have 3 to spend but cant seem to use them even though I do meet the requirements for the perk ? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

only played 2 hours in.. not even ventured into outside world yet. The graphics are ugly. But you get used to it. I played Fallout 3 for hours on end. They need to sort out the User Interface.. its shambolic on the PC. Its true when people say its like an XBOX game. The game has sold amazingly well on Steam. someone at Bethesda needs the boot.. because the PC deserves more attention now

using the keyboard and mouse is fine, not quite sure why many are moaning about it. just bind the spells/weapons to your numberpad. and away you go.

really enjoying so far.

Dissapointing graphics. Honestly they're thoroughly average for PC standards with little improvements over its predecessor which was nothing short of a milestone in visuals...that 6 years ago. I really ******* hate consoles.

And aside from the UI which is god awful, it is however a massive improvement over Oblivion. Not needing a certain skillbase to do something (i.e picking a master lock) makes the game so much accessible, it just makes the task much more difficult without perks and training in that catagory.

Crossfire is disabled, genius. I know several people with single GPU setups and they have the same problem.

Then tell us that straight away so we can accurately troubleshoot.

Can anyone tell me what the little triangles are to the right of some items in the item list? I can't work out what they indicate?

Press the / key which will take you into the Skills Menu. If you press A or D the skills will rotate. The skills are grouped into three distinct architypes (as signified by the gas clouds behind the constellations - these being Fighter, Mage and Thief - the gas clouds have the vague shape of these classes).

As you rotate the skill around and then stop the constellation should light up with a symbol. Click on the symbol and you enter a sort of star map of the constellation. You can click on a star and it will spend a perk (depending on whether or not your skill is high enough).

Hopefully I've made a reasonable job of describing how it works?

On a slightly related note I made a point much earlier in this thread stating how I was disappointed in not being able to pick a specific class as per Morrowind and Oblivion. I've now realised that if you spend all your perks and concentrate on the skills within each "gas cloud" you in effect become that class, albeit not named. It would be nice as you hit skill levels and perks if it gave you a class name such as Rogue or Bard etc.

I've also discovered that there are ways to make you level up skills quicker as a Fighter or Thief etc in game - though I'm not going to spoil it for you.

Another tip. If you want a Skyrim Icon on your desktop, load up Steam, highlight Skyrim and then right click - you can then select "Create Desktop Icon" near the bottom of that menu.

One last thing, for those of you who loved throwing things around in Oblivion, you can still move objects around in the game world - just press and hold the E key rather than quickly pressing it - this allows you to drag items in the game world.

There are so many little things that you discover in this game it really is amazing

Think the little triangles means best weapon of its class that you currently have.

Nope. I haven't had a single crash or encountered a single bug (some rather dodgy functionality for key binding though). Performance is brilliant. No mouse lag or anything of the sort.

The game is beautiful and i think i am going to love it but why is an I5 2500k at 4.3GHZ bottlenecking my GTX 480 down to 50% in some areas thus creating drops to 40fps...... It looks lik the CPU is barely being used in task manager.

Whenever i feel a framerate drop i look at Afterburner at low and behold my gpu usage has gone down a lot. Even when it is above 60fps my GPU usage never seems to go above 75%

Just bought this and i have awfully unplayable frame rates and im using an i7 and a 6990. Can anyone help? Just reinstalled drivers and it's not fixed a thing :(

Thanks for the reply but i worked it out myself the problem was I just hadn't selected my first perk,I had foolishly assumed that because it was bold and highlighted i already had it .

Have to say that im suprised anyone who likes this kind of game is complaining about it as i find it better than all previous games of this type by Bethesda and certianly a lot less buggy and glitchy. The graphics may not be cutting edge but i can live with that for a smoother experience which this game is currently providing .

Everything about the game oozes quality to me at the moment albeit that i have only played it for a few hours.

Man i've already racked up 21 hours. time for a break me thinks. Really am enjoying it thought, Might try that race change command so i can repick my perks. ....orrrr i might start again as a warrior type. Running around as a spellword right now. Think i'll need to read up on bits.
