The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Are there 70 or 80 levels? Do perks stop at 50 or am I remembering wrongly?

I'm 49 atm, and don't want to waste the few perks I've got left to pick if they stop at 50.

Cheers

God knows where the rumour started that there are only 50 levels but it continues all the way up to level 81 which is the absolute maximum (81 and a half with all skills at 100) so you get a max of 80 perks. Realistically you'll get 50-60 max. Theres also no such thing as a 'soft-cap' at lvl50 as far as the exp formula is concerned.

XP required to level up your character = Current level * 25 + 75

Awesome thank. Yeah I must have read it on a preview or something; it wasn't here. Great, gonna go spend a few perks now. 102 hours at level 49 lol.

I got this for christmas, family wanted an idea for a gift so I said Skyrim since I couldn't be bothered to buy it myself. I didn't buy into the hype and I hated Oblivion.

Boy was I wrong about this game, it is 10 times better then Oblivion, only played 11 hours so far but it has kept me gripped every step of the way, but now, here are the questions :p

I've gone down the wood elf rogue road, sneaky-sneaky with a bow, what's a good melee weapon/setup to use. As the moment I'm just using a 1-handed weapon with a light shield, my sneak skill isn't high enough yet to unlock the extra sneak damage with daggers.
Also can you block with daggers, I dual wielded them once and wasn't able to.

I don't have enough money for a house yet, if there another way to store crap, I'm getting loaded down with stuff like dragon bones etc.

I went duel wield swords on my sneaky archer type character.I got my sneak and bow up really high, hardly ever use sword as enemies don't even get close to me before they die :D.

Do the Mages guild in Winterhold, you get access to the Mages quarters as a reward where you can store your gear. It's not a very long quest line so isn't too bad.

Im guessing it arose from the "Reach Level 50" achievement in Steam...

You can't block with anything when you dual wield. And if you play Sneak you'll never need anything but the bow. The vast majority of enemies will never see you coming and die in 1 sneak attack. The rest will either take several shots but never be able to find you or be too powerful to take on in melee without armour that reaches the armour cap and once you get the 'slow time' zoom and stagger you'll be pretty deadly, quick draw and no movement penalty just makes things even more powerful.
I'm gonna make a sneaky illusionist with a dagger at some point to have some fun with the 30x backstab.

What is it with people and the bloody College questline? If you can't scrape together 5k for the Whiterun house before you have to finish the boring ass questline then what the hell are you spending it on? You'll buy it sooner or later anyway given that it has so many useful traders nearby.

How do you backstab? Do you literally sneak up and attack one handed wihout being detected? My sneak is pretty high, like 88 or something, but I get to about 5 feet away and they hear me. Need to start wearing nightingale armour or get the muffled perk

3 hours in, amazing fun! I built a new PC just for this game!

I loved the Barrow dungeon thing... went into sneak mode, an enemy wandered through the doorway and I smashed his face in, cinematic style with a sneak bonus! :D

I'm playing as an Imperial at the moment with plans of being a battle mage. To be honest though, I'm kind of missing the shield already, I'm not sure if wielding a heal spell is really as good.

Playing with an XBOX360 Pad, and it's alright - annoying not being able to turn around quickly but it's a compromise. The perks system works well I think!

The fact regeneration is stopped while casting is a little lame. I think in general you'd be using your offhand for Wards and Healing if you were attempting a battle mage, the Wards would really help against casters and the extra armour *might* be a nice addition to your own if you use it before an enemy power attack, but more likely you'll never use it except against mages and may as well stick to a shield. Frost spells might be nice but the slow effect only applies to move speed (I think) and decreasing an enemies stamina seems to make sod all difference.

I've managed to play as a mage without wards or shields. I tend to summon an deadra to attract their attention, then dual cast lightning spells (their 0 travel times means I hit every time) using the stagger effect to briefly recharge a little more mana. Works very well against single enemies and not too bad on small groups either. You'll quickly learn that there are shouts that allow you to focus on one opponent at time very easily.

Playing on master, I can kill pretty much every enemy (barring bosses) without ever taking a hit.
As a result though, my light armour skill is absolutely terrible, I've become quite literally a glass cannon ( (epic) glass boots and gloves :p)

BUGS :(

Did the No one escapes from Cidhna mine quest, but accidentally killed a civilian while doing it, went back to Markarth and one of the guards stops me and gives me the old "STOP IN THE NAME OF THE JARL!" Speach.

Tried fighting them off and got spanked, so decided to say "I submit, take me to jail."

Now im back in the Cidhna mine imprisoned, and can't seem to find anywhere to break out of, or any beds to sleep in to serve my sentence, any ideas? :(
