The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I'm extremely disappointed that I haven't seen this yet as I was sold this game on the pretence that dragons picked up mammoths. I even witnessed some dragon on mammoth action the other day but, alas, there was no swooping and picking up of the mammoth. In fact, the mammoth somehow managed to kill the dragon.

I did see an ancient dragon come swooping at me today though but I nailed him with an arrow so he crash landed instead leaving a pretty cool furrow in the ground.

It is funny when they crash land. I might've seen a dragon grab someone as they flew past once (one of the Guards in the first dragon fight) but otherwise I've never seen them pick up anyone. They fail so badly against Giants and Mammoths. Hell the earlier versions lose fights against Frost Trolls, Giants/Mammoths wipe the floor with them.

Got hold of the Dragonbane sword, definitely gonna have to enchant a bow with that.

Something seems to have gone wrong somewhere in my game. The dragon I killed last night in Winterhold turned into an ash pile.

I'd imagine that's what I'm thinking of then, seems unlikely there'd be more than one dragonbane.

You must have been thinking of the blades sword. It looks exactly like the dragonbane. There seems to be a few of them in the game, i saw another guy carrying one last night.

That ebony blade is a 2 handed sword and is a daedric artefact so you would only get one of them in the game, same as the dragonbane.

That sounds amazing. Not seen that myself in my 80+ hours.

Would love to see a video of it though.

Just completed the Dark Brotherhood Questline. Epic!

I thought I'd overwritten the quicksave, but turns out I didn't.

Is FRAPS available free, or is there any other free video capture software?

If so, I'll video it and upload to Youtube - as this seems like something people might like to see.

EDIT - I see its not that expensive - I'll probably buy it, if theres no other free alternative.

Great video tutorial I just found on enchanting weapons, armour and how to use soul gems. I already had some basic knowledge of this stuff but this has helped me understand it a bit better as I want to get into enchanting. Might be helpful to some others here too.

thanks mate, now i fully understand how to use it properly :)

i had the blades sword, until something swiped it off me in the quest with the 'The Caller', :( great sword,
i am now using the dragonbane, as my main one handed weapon, but after that video above, i am going to have a good enchantment on it very soon. :)

Is it possible to resurrect a dead follower and for them to still have all their gear?

For instance Athis my follower I lost him, so I ran tyhe consonle command prid (ID) and he appeared, but dead. Hower he had all the gear on him etc....

So I resurrected him, which worked, but he lost all the gear. Do I need to take the gear of him before resurrecting him?

Found a great way to get speech levelled to 100 very fast. As long as you have at least 25 speech already.
1) Go to Riften and find the Black-Briar Meadery
2) Talk to the barman behind the counter and ask about his boss.
Select: 'Tell me about Maven Black Briar'

Wait for reply.

3) Persuade him to tell you the truth about her (speech challenge)
Select :'Come on, get the truth off your chest (Persuade)'

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until it levels up and continue until you reach 100.

:D

BBQ anyone? I hear Horker meat well done is awesome...

Haha, I did that. I was already on like 75 at the time so used that to get it to 100 as there are not many instances where you can get speech to level up legit. I got it to 75 by using speech craft enchanted jewellery to get better prices when I was buying and selling lots of weapons and armour at the start, but then after that I didn't really need to buy anything.

Heh, I kinda feel like I cheated, but with so many things to do in the game, I'll excuse myself. :p I got to 100 but only needed 80 to unlock 5/5 haggling. But going to 100 gave me the extra perks I needed to unlock, as the process levelled up my overall skill level a few times. Prices now are really good and only a little lower than the rated value. Dragon bones for instance are 500 and I sold for 400 gold, so pretty worthwhile. If I was to sell my daedric armour (which I'm not going to) the rated value is 6400 and I'd get 5200. Also, I always wear my thieves guild hood when selling as that improves my prices by yet another 10%.

Is it possible to get higher than 142% fortify smithing potion? I'm wearing 5 Fortify Alchemy enchanted items (ring +29%, necklace +29%, bracers +29%, Krosis +20%, Falmer helmet +29%). 29% is the highest now, despite my Fortify Enchant potion saying +35%?

You can get a Smithing potion that is 50%, Vendor bought or just as a random pick up.
Edit, Appearantly you can chain alchemy and enchanting with gear for each to make up to a 147% Potion for smithing.

Yeah that's what I've done. All my enchanting, alchemy and smithing skills are 100 now. Made/bought the best fortify enchant potion, then enchanted 5 items with fortify alchemy to make a better fortify enchant and fortify smithing potion. Only did it once rather than repeatedly as I don't want to be over powered.

Unlike you hardcore players, I only got this for xmas and only started playing it yesterday. Only done the dragon claw quest and gone back to Riverwood.

I think the game is absolutely stunning and is surely one of the only games i've played where I am happy to spend loads of time just looking around in amazement at the surroundings. The man hours that went into this must have been insane.

Only problem I have is the sheer scope of the game. Magicka, perks, smithing, cooking and infinite more. It's so much I just don't know if I will be able to grasp it all :(

Did anyone else feel this way when they first started playing?

There really is no need to rush, you will pick things up as you play. Enjoy the journey!
And if that doesn't work, use the wikis :p
It is less complex than its predecessors, but of course there are many things to learn.
