The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Install the trader 10'000 gold mod. Traders should have at least that in the standard game IMO

That would be called the Speech tree... though the traders should definitely increase gradually as you level up. 20 gold a level isn't all that much and its ridiculous to expect you to invest 5 or so perks just to have traders with money.

I'm tempted, but I don't know. I already used an exploit to get my speech to 100. Ok, so that's like cheating really. I got my smithing to 90 daedric level by buying all my ebony and iron ingots. That's not cheating, but the real satisfaction would have been from mining my ores. So, should I see the rich merchants mod as cheating or not?

Why don't you mod the mod so it only adds a small amount of gold. It does seem fairly ridiculous that even in the larger towns only have 1000 gold to begin with to be fair but 10,000 is a step too far.

I suppose so yeah. Which towns have 1000 gold? All the ones I've been to have about 760 max.

Trader gold just needs increasing slightly based on your level. It hardly matters early game when you're in desperate need of cash and don't have enough valuable loot to buy out the 2 smithies, 1 weapon/armour trader, 1 general trader, 1 magic trader and 1 alchemist/potion trader.

In all honesty the only merchant who NEEDS his gold limit increasing is the general goods trader. He's the only place you can get rid of quite a lot of valuable junk like scrolls and jewellery. Its supposed to be an economy after all, you buy stuff off them then sell them more stuff and get back all the gold you gave em plus the rest. Just doesn't work for the general merchants since they never have any good stuff.

What do you need the money for? To buy a useless house faster?

Nah, I'm happy living in the arch mages quarters which was given to me ages ago. Tbh, I have built up 60K which is probably enough really. It's more of a self quest to get to 100K.

Haven't seen any dragons recently :( Maybe I should pursue the main quest a little more and go and introduce myself to Malborne.

Try Riverwood. I've just been back 'n forth to riverwood selling stuff, and there's been dragons every time. About 4 in a very short space of time. I've fully unlocked 11 shouts now with 7 dragon souls still to spend.

Ooh, just got a ****load of ebony ingots and made my finest and most expensive item. Daedric Warhammer (legendary), 131 damage, 8000 value. I'm going to do my first disenchant next on my honed greatsword of scorching so I can enchant the Warhammer with burning. No dragon will last long now. Mwahahaha :D

Will do, thanks. Haven't visited there for a while come to think of it.

Huh, so ok, finally had the game in hand to play last night after a long break away from it, deleted ALL previous saves without even loading them up. I want to start fresh and take what I have learnt from my previous 2 characters and combine it all into one.

So, I am playing the typical magic in the left hand, axe in the right, wearing light armor. I am normally doing 'health, health, magic, health, stamina' for my leveling up rota. Which seems to be working wonders. I do find it more fun as I just blast my enemies before they get to be with a fireball then finish them off with my weapon. So overall I have put more into my destruction skill set than one handed. Light armor gets a spruce now and again. I have the lovers stone.

So, all of my characters play style is fine and dandy for my low level Dark elf ****.

What I am missing though is quests! I wondered around early on to do the sword of bane quest line, was easy, supprisingly easy considering my character was only level 5 and I took the big guy down in my first attempt without any potions! Just used my racial skill (flame cloak), kited him whilst using all my magika then when in for a lovely cinematic finish with my axe burying it's self in his skull.

Anyway, to the point, I seem to have forgotton how to pile up mountains of side quests, misc quests ect ect... Any pointers?

P.S. as for the main quests, I am the point of the Greybeards wanting me to see them... Demanding ****s.

I have killed more dragons that I would ever need Souls and bones from I think.. try doing innkeeper and Jarl quests more often, as they invariably have "Kill Dragon at location X" type quests. Other than that, just fast travel around and some usually pop up.

Talk to everyone, basically. Shopkeepers, innkeepers, Jarls, random people in Inns and on the street.. Reading books open some quests also. Dont forget to go back to the Companions, Thieves Gulid etc for their repeatable quests, as they have loads to do! Especially TG.

Yeah at 130 hours I have killed 25 dragons or so. I've done loads of steward quests but recently all they give me is bountys on bandit leaders etc.

I've upped the skill to expert as with my daedric bow and fortify archery enchantments I was one shotting draugr overlords if I was sneaking lol. Looking forward to trying it against dragons though :D

I never managed to one-shot a dragon, probably not enough Bow perks. but now I have my own pet dragon, I just watch them scrapping it out overhead and wait for it to land :)
