The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

TBH, I find that too many of the interesting quests depend on you not being a good character. Other than the main quest line and the civil war, by far the most interesting for me have been the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild while most of the "good" quests seem to just be "Go to dungeon X and get item Y/kill enemy Z". Even the quest for destroying the Dark Brotherhood requires you to assassinate someone to start it.

I always thought that was a bit stupid. They say they wanted to give good characters the option of destroying the dark brotherhood or something... so why does the quest come AFTER you've had to assassinate someone, kinda defeats the point of being good.

My character is pretty much "Chaotic Neutral", so I really don't like killing people or doing bad stuff unless it's the lesser of two evils or has some sort of reward that justifies the deeds.

Regarding the darker quests: I had no issue doing the Periyite quest at all :D. Molag Bal made me a bit uneasy but the reward was worth it. I feel bad at doing the Eola quest (but the guy was rude to me :p) and there's no way I'm doing the Boethia one!

You can join them all, the only exception being Imperials and Stormcloaks, you have to pick 1.

I'm refusing to pick sides at the moment, it feels like it might ruin the game for me if I can't go to certain towns without hassle! I quite like my house in Whiterun at the moment and don't fancy the chance of being kicked out (I have no clue if this will happen or not).

To be honest, I'm edging towards the Stormcloaks despite my character being an Imperial. I absolutely despise the Thalmor and kill any Justiciars I come across since they kicked my bottom back at level 14 or so! The Thalmor bloke at the Mage's College helped to make my mind up as well!

there is was a co op mod some guy made that works.

if there was co op mp on this i would only play this :D

*sigh* Some people are so obsessed with MP they are just totally oblivious to the fact it simply will not work with some games...

The civil war thing is a bit iffy as far as morality goes. On the one hand you have the Imperials who are effectively slaves of the Thalmor who are pretty nazi-like in their quest for domination (the whole Talos thing too), though the Imperials see themselves as the ones keeping the Thalmor out of Skyrim. On the other you have the Stormcloaks who are just as nazi-like in their belief that Skyrim belongs to the Nords and there is a good chance its just merely Ulfric trying to gain power, exploiting any means he can.

There really isn't any noticeable effects for joining a side anyway. You aren't barred from any places, and my Whiterun is still damaged even though I'm sure it was supposed to be have repaired by now (think you need to be away from the town for x duration as opposed to it fixing itself x days later) though its pretty superficial. The really stupid part is that the Talos fanatic is still there ><

I held out on the Stormcloaks/Imperial quest until the very last moment when I had cleared out most of my Misc quests. Tbh it was complete garbage really. I expected some epic battles in some of the cities....hardly got that.

I went with Imperials in the end - hardly makes a difference.

I'm totally doing the Boethia one, it's just pending the right companion to come along...

hey people,

Quick question if i may please,

I had to reinstall windows from a backup partition.

I had to re install my games, was hoping that my skyrim saves would have been backedup on steam cloud but when i go into skyrim it says i have no saves :(

i have put 30hrs into this game (i know thats not a lot compared to some of you) i really do not want to start again.

Any idea where the save files go as i may be able to find them from my backup partion restore thing.

Thanks

You could try Pandora recovery... hopefully you've not written to those sectors where they were stored.

Apparently savegames are in C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

Hope they get this 1.4 patch out soon. The beta has really fixed a lot of issues so the final product should allow me to continue playing my broken save (19mb save, CTF wherever i go)

Just wondering if anyone else recognised the voices of Olfrid Battleborn, Vignar Gray-Mane and others? I recognised it instantly.

Same guy who voiced Tigger (Pooh), Cat (CatDog), Hak Foo (Jackie Chan) etc. :p

The only one I've recognised so far (i'm only level 13) is Michael Hogan who plays Saul Tigh in Battlestar Galactica as General Tullius
