The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Dived back into Skyrim after a long break and was surprised how quickly I was right back into it and loving it. One of the most immersive games I've played in years. The support form the community has been stellar.

I'm using this mod atm, quite good imo although it also does the weather.

Start with watching the vids here...

That guy does some great vids for Skyrim. Check out the Skyrim Nexus, Install Nexus Mod Manager and SKSE - Watch above vids for details.

As for mods - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/topalltime/?adult=2 - IMO, almost all the mods in the top ten are worth getting, at least.

The below isn't bad advice either. :)

I highly recommend the STEP guide to anyone who's serious about modding Skyrim. I'm part of its team and some big changes are coming very soon, with the new revision of the guide bringing a lot of fresh air into the project.

Does anyone know why my UI says that SKSE is installed incorrectly sometimes when I fire up Skyrim? This only happens sometimes. I don't get it.

Are you always starting the game using skse_loader.exe?
Do you have full permissions over all the files provided by skse?
Did you copy over everything correctly?
Don't run steam 'As Admin'; use you own user account. (which can be an admin of course)

I've just spent about two hours making my own mod a custom config for categorized favorites.

Is it uploaded anywhere? I have a small issue with trying to select my dual wield weapons through categorized favourites, not sure if it's my config or the actual mod. Basically I can only select one hand, I have to go into inventory and select each hand from there which can be mildly annoying when switching to and from bow.

Thats how i have mine installed, and i've never had an issue, makes upgrading easy too. :)

What weapons are they? I use a controller so if I want to dual wield weapons I have to select each weapon I want with each trigger. Doesnt it work with each mouse button selecting left and right? Or maybe you could use the equipsets?

I've removed the equipsets on my config because they dont work with the controller. Also my names are different, their from the below mod. I probably havent found all the names yet and I still may change it again.

My mod

There is a config entry for telling it left handed weapons and two handed weapons though its only for unequipping, so if you cant unequip certain things then it is probably this mod, but otherwise I think its a problem with the game.

Any advice or mod pointers for slightly darker nights/dungeons? I'm using CoT and previously had "Dark Dungeons for ENB" installed, even though i'm not using ENB which made the nights nearly pitch black. Just using CoT now and I find the nights/dungeons not dark enough... Just want a tiny bit darker :p

Been playing around with Skyrim, added a few mods. This is what I have to far:

  • A Quality World Map with HQ3Dmap
  • Immersive Armors
  • Immersive Weapons
  • Lush Grass
  • Race Menu
  • Realistic Lighting
  • Skyrim Flora Overhaul
  • SkyUI
  • WATER
  • XCE
  • Unnoficial Skyrim/Dawnguard patches

Well I have broken through a barrier! I had a game over 120 hours long with loads still undone(), but I was getting frequent crashes as well as glitches and just generally stuff not working as it should(flickering lights/shadows/ faces mismatching bodies etc....quests bugging out). This was almost certainly because I was adding and removing mods during the game, always clean-saving of course.

Well recently I have started a new game, with the mods I have decided on all installed ready and cleaned. There will be no mods added, no mods removed, no rebuilding of the bashed patch, updates are disabled....I am going to leave it completely alone, exactly as it was when I started the game. And so far.....22 hours in and not a single hint of a conflict/crash. Even better, everything seems to be working as it should as well. I am not getting any flickering lights or odd things happening. Levelling seems much better. basically everything is running very smoothly.

There is no way in hell I am adjusting these mods at all!:p ...however I have not decided what I will do when Dragonborn is released....

Am I the only one who thinks this game looks infintely better with grass completely disabled? Even the modded grass looks ugly as hell, when will Bethesda ever get grass right?

It's a shame though, that Skyrim can't even look as good as a modded version of Oblivion without cheating with an ENB. :/
