I found the same problems with the ENB's making interiors to dark and have tried a few of the ENB's and have settled with a compromise of using Real Vision with Essential mods Option B: Enhanced Lights and FX 0.32 + Climates of Tamriel V3.1 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30936//? I tried it after watching Gopher vid on different light effect mods in interiors and it did make a difference switching from RLO to ELFX.

well here it is. this is my attempt at modding for the first time. Have never really modded any game to this extent and made a few mistakes along the way but here is what I have at the minute. Will list Mods and resources that I have used.

The depth of field looks nice on screenies but i can't actually play with it. Confuses my brain lol

Within the ENB Optional files there is an option to set the level or remove the distance blur completley. Have to say when I first saw it I wasnt sure but after a little bit of time I got used to it.

Anyone suggest a good, cold looking ENB. I love the vanilla atmosphere and have stressed many times that I don't like ENBs, but I just want to give it a shot one last time. Nothing extreme or taxing on the system. I like having 60fps solid.

Just a lighting mod I guess.

My Skyrim runs normally for about 15mins and then freezes.

But its not a "death" freeze (where you have to do a hard reset) - the sounds still play in the background and I can ctrl alt del and kill the process.

Anyone else come across this?

Are you casting spells when it freezes? Or have many been cast? Deadly Spell Impacts caused my game to freeze like that.

In need of a little help with textures/performance.
I've just got back into this. Didn't finish the game first time round and now going to do it all in with better textures.

I've tried the official hd pack which was pretty nice, however it caused some pretty big lag spikes on occasions. Avg is 50 - 80 FPS, but it drops to 1 FPS on occasion. Running everything on ultra bar AA.

So I went and tried to mod the ini files adding the multithreading options but they didn't seem to do anything? Also added a few other lines here and there and no idea what's what in there

(yes i foolishly didn't make a backup beforehand)

I've now unticked the official HD packs in the data page and installed the 2k textures instead (via the Nexus Mod Manager), however this looks like the stock textures and doesn't seem enabled (but says it is enabled in NMM).

Any suggestions? All I want is some better textures that don't cause these massive lag spikes. Cheers

Well, I installed ELFX the other day and have to say, it's made interiors much more atmospheric! However, the snow lit up by daylight in caves and such is blue, like a glowing blooming blue... Really odd.

None the less, if I continue to use ELFX, will it work with ENB's?

@ Modo77 try enabling vertical sync as skryrim does not like going above 60fps well it worked for me and stopped screen tearing I was experiencing.

@agnes I use ELFX with COT and using the Real Vision Option B performance ENB and it still looks nice compared to Option B full but 10- 20fps better in my case.

Thanks, I've re-enabled vsync, which isn't helping with the low end. Just stopping it hitting 130ish inside and 80 outside. Possibly a little more stable but its still lagging.

Any other suggestions?

Also any easy way to remove all the texture updates I've done so its back to stock so that i can try them one at a time. I have tried the Official, 2k and now the beth high res DLC Optimized one. Thinking that it may not help with having all these on?

Use a mod manager to install your mods, then it's easy to add/remove them. Most people use Nexus Mod Manager I would guess.

If you want to get the default .ini files back just delete the ones in My Games/Skyrim.

If you have an AMD 5850 with only 1GB VRAM that is going to limit how many HD texture packs you can install quite a bit I'd think.

A few from my current Skyrim install and ENB.

Main mods are - Superior Rock Textures 4k - Lush trees - Confidence Man's bark textures - Mindflux's grass textures and ENB .227 with custom config.

I'm quite pleased with the balance, which works well in most circumstances.

Yeah i used the NMM (i have another post a bit further up with more info) however the official pack wasn't installed via that and can't see how to remove it aside from un-selecting the files in the launcher. If it doesn't cause an issue then its fine.

I don't want a lot of texture packs i just want one which gives better textures than the stock ones.
