The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Most the textures look a little better, the road, rocks, houses. You could try Climates of Tamriel, if you aren't already. Real Water Two, Skyfalls are also good. For weapons/armour aMidianBorn Book of Silence is great.

But for the biggest changes you would need an ENB, and then your FPS will take a big hit.

Gopher's videos are very good indeed, I'm subscribed to his channel.

I had the following mods installed:

SkyUI
Immersive HUD
WATER - Water And Terrain Enhancement Redux
SkyrimHD 2k textures
SMIM

I only got as far as part 5 in Gopher's tutorial videos. Part 6 covered lighting and the Climates Of Tamriel mod. Will check it out when I can.

Cheers for the help.

It's ridiculous how addictive modding Skyrim can get, just reinstalled Skyrim due to building a new comp and getting a new SSD and decided to remod it. About 3 hours later and I have over 70 mods installed.

It's definitely addictive. :)

I just wish I could find the right balance between getting a better looking game and performance. I tried loads of mods but ended up getting 35fps and even less when running through some fields. I think it was the 'Grass on Steroids' mod that did it!

Oh yeah, I've stayed away from grass mods cus I know they're the performance killer. Basically, although I was familiar with modding skyrim already, I followed Gopher's videos and then started piling on mods from http://skyrimgems.com/ and the top mods on nexus.

There's a brilliant mod on the skyrim workshop which I think is extremely underrated, Adura's merchant mod. What this does is lets you set up your own merchant stall in various cities and hire someone/get a follower/lydia to man it and sell items for you while you're away. Theres a nexus/NMM compatible version of this here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11158/?tab=2&navtag=/ajax/modfiles/?id=11158&pUp=1

It's a Breezehome fully upgradable compatible version but it can be used standalone like I am now. It makes selling the tons of items you get so much easier, although not too easy as there is a limit to how many items you can put in the merchant stall, and how fast it can sell them.

Does anyone know a mod which allows you to auto equip a weapon/spell combination with 1 hotkey? For example, equipping a sword and shield with 1 button, dual heal with one button, dual swords etc. Right now you either have to hotkey sword to 1 and shield to 2 and press both to equip or go through your favourites and equip the shield separately.

Your right about the grass mods. I had an 7990 and since the ENB mods dont work properly in crossfire i had to disable one and ended up with about 30fps due to the grass mods lol.

As Fanatic says SkyUI has this functionality, probably one of the best improvements to general Skyrim to be honest. The favorite system is nice but it has its flaws.

I think by default SkyUI uses the function keys for sets, however you can change this to the number keys if you want, just need to do the same with Skyrim favorites.

Actually I realised just after posting that that Categorised favourites menu has this functionality and I have that already :D Silly me! I think I just expected it to be more pronounced and stated rather than it being sort of a workaround but now that I know that makes it much easier, thanks.

Now I can get back to getting more mods into my ever expanding list :P

Suddenly realised why I find Bethesda games so infuriating. They wait until around 12 hours in before they start throwing game breaking bugs at you :( I'm sure the amount of mods I'm using isn't helping of course.

Any time I'm in rorikstead about to talk to the guy whose goat you stole the game CTD's without an error, and now it's doing it with Meridia's shrine and sometimes on the loading screen for save games. I can't even fast travel to Meridia's shrine cus it instantly ctds. Very strange, and since the first 10 hours were perfectly fine I'm not sure what the issue might be. Gonna go and uninstall all my mods and see what it might be, if that doesn't work I think I'll load up my save game from like 4 hours back and see if that still does it.

EDIT: Apparently it was Immersive Patrols :S Weird considering it's been fine since I started the game. I'm thinking maybe Boss destroyed something during a one of the later runs I made of it as I haven't ran it at all yet since reinstalling everything and it's loading and fast travelling to both locations fine.

I was thinking of playing this again. Is there any one or two mods that can make everything look better or do I have to spend ages installing mods? Id rather spend time playing that mod'ing.

Whatever you do, definitely use the Mod Organiser - way better than NMM and other things. Amazing tool.

Edit: I have it all contained in one folder in the main skyrim directory, all mod downloads and extracted files - works by some funky means of virtualisation so no need to mess around in the Data folder at all. Also uses it's own versions of skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini - doesn't mess with those in the "my games" folder. I can't praise this thing enough, so easy to maintain. The only thing needing to be installed separately is SKSE, BOSS and wrye bash. I don't care much for ENB so don't use any of that (reality is my system can't handle it).

Of course you may still need wrye bash for the bashed patch, BOSS for brainless load order, and SKSE because everything now needs SKSE.

I'm almost done with a minimally modded setup, aim of making it as simple as possible - just in a test character at the moment. Will post the main things I'm using in a bit.

So after steams flash sale last night i have as if by magic obtained a copy of skyrim and all its dlc. lol i have played it before and remember all the talk about mods and such which leads me on to my queston.

This thread is for skyrim mods but the OP has like 50 different mods and tweaks and so on. I just want the game to look a bit better, dont want game breaking mods so what mods should i install, all of the ones the OP mentions or is there like a folder i can download and install so i dont have to install all those mods one by one.

I just install the mods 1 by 1 using the Skyrim Mod Tool I think you can download it from the nexus skyrim.nexusmods.com/‎ I only have a few mods installed, but can't check what they are because I'm in work. I think they were a few graphic realism mods that are fairly highly ranked on Nexus Mods and a My Little Pony Helmet mod :D :p It's fairly hilarious when you get beheaded. :D:D:D

lol thanks will have a look....however i may leave out the my little pony one..

If you turn off lots of the ENB effects then performance isn't so bad. You can turn off SSAO, DoF, SkyLighting, Reflections, IndirectLighting, SSS, etc etc, and still keep the colour changes. And the much much much better shadows :).

Or just download ENB 0.108 as it has most of the features turned off and hardly loses framerate.
