The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Haven't played this for about a year. Re-installed and made the classic mistake of slapping in a load of mods willy-nilly, then discovering it all looks atrocious.

Time to start again and do it properly this time.

I did something similar. I'm going to wait 'till I get my hands on a 290x then find quality mods and turn them all up to 11!

Looks fantastic with some of these mods. Already completed it on console before getting a gaming PC though, not sure if that will ruin me playing it again

Just reinstalled mine from scratch..kept my save games..but did the mods more carefully this time and went with the Skyrim 2k texture pack instead of the official one.. Huge difference.. Here are some shots.
Make sure you be carefully when mods want to overwrite other mods and use BOSS to make sure it loads them properly and make sure you use SKSE to run skyrim.

Are there any enb mods or similar which don't negatively affect fps but subtly improve lighting and colour?

I plan to play the game properly this time as i started out before and wasted time with mods then had to reinstall, i prefer stuff that doesn't require a lot of extra junk or installers, i can do it manually but it must be worth it and not affect game play or cause bugs, so graphics are what im limiting myself to for now.

If you turn off lots of the ENB effects then performance isn't so bad. You can turn off SSAO, DoF, SkyLighting, Reflections, IndirectLighting, SSS, etc etc, and still keep the colour changes. And the much much much better shadows :).

Very true but it kind of defeats the purpose of using the ENB as theres designed to give a unique look.
Im running about 110 mods including the ENB and all the skyrim settings maxed out and getting anything from 20 fps - 60 fps on a single 7970.. I do have a 7990 card but crossfire doesnt work properly with the ENB.

id personally go with..

Skyrim 2k
Static mesh improvement mod.
Climates of Tamriel
ENB realistic
Skyrim flora overhaul
HI res autumn grass
Realistic Lighting overhaul

And then mods like 2k-4k rocks ect depending on the performance you get with those ones above.

Graphics:

Skyrim HD 2K
Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Enhanced Distant Terrain 2

Interface:

SkyUI
Immersive HUD

Thanks for that. Here's the difference between normal and the mods above added:

It's a subtle difference to say the least. I must be doing something wrong.

Here it is modded with the Realistic Lighting overhaul added:

I think I might have to start over. :/

Is that the same time of day?

I want nicer colours and contrast, nothing extreme as most mods seem to make it, from looking at youtube comparisons most people have no idea what they're doing, very few seem much good.

The normal game seems a bit flat and dull, most enb mods crush contrast so details are missing, i just want nicer colours and decent contrast, also 2k textures seem to change too much, i've gone with the official high res pack, pretty subtle but does the job, still hoping theres a good enb around?

The ENB makes the biggest difference. It shouldnt lower your fps too much but you have to do it right.

I've been busy watching some mod tutorial videos from someone called 'Gopher'. Absolutely superb and thoroughly recommended if you're new to all this modding stuff. :)

There are links to 8 other videos under that one.

Got my Skyrim looking like this now. There's a noticeable FPS hit already though.

Still not sure if it's worth all the hassle. This is the unmodded version:
