The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Anyone using enhanced shaders, what do you make of it?
I have had a few ctd's since installing it unfortunately, but it looks great.

I have Afterburner running, but don't want to disable it tbh.

Not really a tweak as such, but in my experience playing Skyrim I get much better performance (as in smoother mouse look) when outdoors. Always seems to slightly stutter in Dungeons.

When I Was trying out a Fraps recording I set the rez from 16:10 to 16:9 and played in Window mode and my god the performance difference was very noticeable. Re-loaded a few old dungeon to see what the indoor performance was like it was as smooth as you can get. Tried my original rez in Window mode too and still much smoother than fullscreen.

Not sure what to make of it and I'll look into it further tomorrow, but would be interested if anyone else experiences this much smoother gameplay in Window mode.

Already applied a few of the tweaks from the main page such as disabling Vsync and mouse acceleration.

Bethesda games always run better in windowed mode, it was a widely used fix in Oblivion,FO3 and New Vegas that stopped ctd's and stuttering. They all had mods which forced the game to run in fulscreen windowed mode, i think there is already on for this as well

Too many ctd's for me, gonna uninstall the shaders and see if that makes a difference, if it doesn't i shall put it back on as it looked great.

What is this i am reading about an update?

disables the 4gb aware fix nearly everyone did on the exe...

seems someone wants to block people using it

if you previously used it all your new crashes will because steam changed your exe to a crappy one again

So Steam updated the .exe cancelling the large adress aware enabler?

I'l try doing it again then.

(probably discussed at length in the Skyrim thread but i haven't had access to the interent much today.)

Open SkyrimPrefs.ini, and search for [General] section
Add fdefaultfov=XX at the end of the section. (where XX is the FOV value you want to change to). For example add fdefaultfov=90
Open Skyrim.ini, and search for [Display] section
Add fDefaultWorldFOV=XX (where XX is the FOV value you put in fdefaultfov)
Add fDefault1stPersonFOV=xx.0000 (where XX is the FOV value you put in fdefaultfov)

Finally!
Cheers :)
