The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

Well, it's been two weeks since I started a new installation. Started on the 12th (likely before) and finally finished everything I really want tonight, do have few others installed, but currently disabled due for quest reasons and fresh start reasons that need to be enabled later on, but that's fine.

Not really happy with the landscape around Whiterun and places like that. It's fine in the snow and some forest areas, towns are really nice.

This is my current modlist.

Still got a few mods that am watching for updates or fixes to add later, but am ready to start to play now. Gonna have a little break then going to jump right into it. ;)

 Now what will be great to know is what issues you have on your play-through, if any. Some of those mods will, I believe, likely have quirks/bugs. So please do update us :)

After a quick scan, you may have issues with Wet & Cold (npcs can get stuck inside), Sounds Of Skyrim (used to have historic/old reports of save bloat), A quality world map (can be a cause of ILS), UFO and Race Menu.

Please note I'm only saying I'd be cautious.

Good luck.

KingDazza, now I am curious here... **A quality world map (can be a cause of ILS)** What does ILS stand for ? Also, what issue might one have with Race Menu ??
Wondering since I have those 2 mod installed myself. :)

Yeah I don't want to cause panic. And this should be taken as just my own personal knowledge gain/experience.

But map mods have been known to cause infinite load screen (ILS). For example some have found by rotating the map a full 360 degrees when that happens can resolve them (assuming you have the map configured that way obviously). I for one have actually experienced it first hand when using warburgs paper map. It wont happen all the time and may never happen at all. But for me I certainly believe there is a risk.

Race Menu has had various reports of compatibility/stability problems surfacing further down the line during a play through. Theres also the fact that a mod was released to alleviate it potentially crashing the game whilst being used. Now I'm not going to take the time substantiating the Race Menu concern. But for me its popped up several times when I've been reading about issues. Thats why its not one for me.

I think over time we all build up a little list of mods for one reason or another we like to avoid. But having enjoyed the past 200 hours with absolutely no stability or ils problems at all, I intend to keep it that way. And man have I had issues in the past.

So take my advice with a pinch of over cautiousness. But I stand by my views on the mods mentioned.

It's pretty stable, I been doing test runs from anywhere between a hour to two hours riding around the entire world, visiting every town and city and going into caves and tombs after mods been installed.

Having trouble starting a new game with the intro sequence constantly spinning and jumping around, it's very disorientating and I can't remember how I bypassed it previously.... can anyone trust me to a save game, starting at Helgen? As I don't fancy losing all my mods...

Just a bog standard bald imperial please...

That can be due to several things. Very high fps and some horse mods tend to be the biggest culprits. Try disabling all your horse mods until you get to Helgen.

Alternatively, use Live Another Life and choose camping in the woods as a start point which if memory serves, puts you just outside the cave after the starting area.

@Vidar
Its caused by running too many script intensive mods, as Helgen itself is fragile due to its own starting scripts. Common mods to cause it are Immersive Armours for example.

You may want to simply disable certain mods until after you exit the cave at the end of the Helgen episode and then install the script heavy mods.

Tough question - is there a mod that strips back magic, so that it is rare and used only by magical classes? Looking at replaying Skyrim, but in a manner akin to Joe Abercrombie books!

Is there anyway to improve SLI performance in this game? Using ENB 0.264 and a few graphical mods and am not seeing massive GPU utilisation nor framerate.

Okay it was the immersive armours mod that was doing it.... thanks guys...

Now if I can just get shut of the water splash sound and jumping items when indoors I'm all set.... :)
