The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

God this game is crack cocaine. Installed it again last week and can't get to bed until 2am every dam night lol.

If I use Nexus mod manager. Is it worth saving my game save file somewhere else in case the mods ruin the game I've got going just now?

I'd also remember to backup the .ini settings files as hardware changes and/or mods can reset them potentially breaking things :( mine a load of settings got reset on a GPU change and I could never get the game running again how I had it.

daaaaaaaaaaum

Ok then, 120gig max. I'll put the game, DLC and all mods on that.

Now I need to know what are the best mods to put on and what order to put them on?

I tried to read the first page on here, but links aren't all working.

I love visual textures like plants, buildings, weapons, etc I've only got 8 gig of HBM2 so can't go too mental on the mods

I take it Nexus mod manager is the way to go?

Can you guys recommend the best mods to install? NEED TO KNOW WHAT ORDER TO INSTALL THEM TOO

I'd use mod organizer 2 rather than NMM. Could also check out Vortex (on Nexus) if you're up for learning.

There are loads of modding guides out there. Have a google and follow one that looks good :)

mod organizer? Not heard of that one before. Is it like Nexus with a list of all the mods or can you use the Nexus listed mods in that? is it worth my while learning how to use Mod Organizer as I just want to load up 5 or 10 mods to get the visuals to another level and get bac kto playing.

I take it you modded Skyrim before ? Nexus Mod Manager has been declared end of line by Nexus themselves, since Nexus now using Vortex. The Nexus Mod Manager has been taken over by some independent modders so can still be found here. As Uncle said thoutgh, use Mod Organizer 2 instead, can be found here. MO2 is easier to use then Vortex unless you up for a challenge.

Been ages since I played Skyrim but you definitely need these mods:

Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch
SkyUI at Skyrim Special Edition

After those just look at what mod you want to install and download them.

Yes, Mod Organizer is similar as to the Nexus mod Manager. If I remember right, when you first install MO, it ask you if you want it to download from nexus, click yes and then just download any mods you want from nexus, install them and activate them in the mod list. And I have been presuming that you have Skyrim Special Edition, if not, the above mods are also on the normal Skyrim edition site of Nexus.

Good to know squire. Many thanks for that

How can I tell what edition I have?

Skyrim or Skyrim Special edition?

I've the steam version with all DLC in it. Will normal mods work with the Special edition or do I need the "older" version?

It either says The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, or click on the links and if you logged in through browser on Steam it will tell you that you already own it. :p

And you welcome ! :p

I can't reccomend Vortex highly enough, an absolute doddle to use.

I'll have a look at that tonight cheers.

I'm just up to level 27 now after a while playing it again. Man this game has so much hidden stuff that it's like a new game when you play it again, especially with a different race/strategy.

My worry is that if I mod it now, it might affect my current game and possibly bug it. I'm not wanting to start over yet again.

I've got a really good version of this setup with enb etc.. surely it could be easy enough to package the version I have?

Has anyone here ever done that?

A screenshot of the mods you have would also work

I'd just look up the name of them and download and install them.

If they are standalone files, a dropbox zip file? Mods are massive size files though
