The Emirates FA Cup 4th Round ** Spoilers ** [27th - 30th January 2023]

You did dwarf other clubs, if i recall correctly from looking at revenues during the 90's and 00's. You dwarfed everyone

We were **** at taking advantage of that to compete in Europe though. That was the thing that always frustrated me when I was younger. We would win the league but in Europe we were usually second best when we played any of the big boys. We didn't dominate any of the big teams.

We spent a lot of money occasionally but we relied on Ferguson to be our trump card far more than we should. We were the biggest club in England for a long time and yet I never felt we behaved like it in the market. We would buy top talent from other Premier League clubs but rarely spent big in Europe.

Sorry i thought we were discussing liverpool i know it pains you how bang average you are right now but still
We are but I'm just trying to qualify how sounds your opinions are. You're the most shameless poster on here - you mock Adam with your sig, while coming out with far worse shouts than he does.

We were the biggest spenders in 1998/99, 2001/2002, 2002/2003 during SAF era. That was it. Newcastle spent more in the 90's and Chelsea in 00's. This has always been a massive myth with United. We spent big amounts on marque signings but brought a load of players through the youth ranks so were essentially free.

So liverpools defence and midfield arent a mess right now?

Your confident salah wont move in the summer?

And your confident liverpool can attract the likes of a bellingham or rice this summer?

Id love to hear why any if those opinions of mine are stupid nonsense

Liverpool have qualified for the CL in each of the last 6 years, Arsenal and Newcastle haven't once and our revenues dwarf both of yours. I'd say Liverpool are better placed to consistently qualify than either, regardless of how bad this season has gone.
Do you seriously think you’re gonna be in the champs league next season?

Liverpool's midfield and defense is all over the shop this season, as it was in the 20/21 season - Liverpool followed that up with a 90+ season, winning 2 domestic cups and making the CL final the year later.

If your argument is simply that Liverpool are a mess right now then I agree but you've gone one step further and have made a sweeping statement about the future. As above, Liverpool had a massive turnaround with very little change just 2 seasons ago and you literally support a side that have gone from finishing 5th to challenging for the title this season. To suggest that Liverpool won't be able to compete for the CL next season is nonsense, yes. The nucleolus of this Liverpool squad is still very strong - it needs some tweaks in midfield and we need a couple of key players to be fit again.

And Salah won't leave. I don't think we're after Rice and I do believe we have a serious chance of signing Bellingham but it's far from certain to happen, to answer your questions.

They have let key positions drop massively in quality.

Mane - big loss
Wjinaldum - big loss
Fabinho - not the player he was
VVD - shadow of the player he was
Milner and Henderson - Older and not anywhere near the level they were
Salah - not the player he was - probably just temporary
Firmino - gone from fantastic to god knows what

Then there are the injury issues. I would 100% say there is a lot of limping and its not fatigue. Its the slow decline in a number of areas and suddenly Liverpool have found themselves with a 20% dropoff in quality which completely kills their style of football.

They don't defend that well and yet that is what they are increasingly having to do. They are like a formula one engine built out of spec. It needs high tolerances to function but take those away and it will just shake itself to pieces trying to still work the same way.

so a total shambles then

Head in the sand

Jurgen Klopp announces Liverpool will not sign any other player in January: “Nothing will happen in this transfer window, not at all”.

#LFC “It's all good with this squad”, Klopp added.

All that has just confirmed what I just said. Yes we went nuts after SAF retired but that was money earned from previous success. We didn't dwarf no one in spending at any real time during SAF reign.
