The England Cricket Thread

the real question with this game is if we can get a result in three days

why do they play test cricket in manchester!!!???????
Because it's a massive hub for the sport with a significant history in the region.

There are more draws at Old Trafford than other English test venues, but Headingley (which must be similarly rainy) has the lowest percentage of draws, so I'd suggest that the weather doesn't actually play a significant part in that.

There are significantly more draws at grounds in NZ, India, WI, and Pakistan than there are at Old Trafford, which backs up the suggestion that the weather isn't a big reason for that.

And finally, dealing with weather is a huge part of test cricket, and adds to the nuance of it. Just playing it in sunny places would be castrating a significant element of the sport.

Hope so, think he's been unfairly treated through this series, he's had some good knocks in difficult periods, but has had some frustrating dismissals playing those similar wide shots unncessarily. Looks like the bouncers may be a bit more prevalent now.
