The England Cricket Thread

Indeed, fine margins in those first 2 but England on top for big chunks of both and with a bit of patience could have easily won both with hindsight. Last 3 games England have been on top of the aussies for 75% of the time. But 2.2 is a fair result, could so easily have been a 3 1 loss which would have been ridiculous with the way the series has been played. Think England will learn/have learned a lot from this series and bazball v2 will no doubt be coming.

Ive never seen australia being so negative with the way they played through the series. Even when England were on top of them a decade ago and hey came out and played top cricket.

Exactly my thoughts

Bazball v2.0, ie Bazball with brains will be very entertaining (as is Bazball V 1.0) but should avoid the stupid losses.

Retaining the Ashes and winning the Moral Ashes twice is a good result for Australia. I also believe we won the Ethical Ashes, the Weather Ashes, and the Losing Our Best Spinner Ashes.

England will take comfort in the knowledge that they held us to a draw, and won the Ali's Groin Ashes. Sadly, they did not win the Bazball Ashes.

Who won the Spirit of Cricket Ashes?

The perfect ending to a great match and series! But for the weather in the 4th Test and a daft first innings declaration in the First Test England might have won the series. But honours equal is fair, the sides were so well matched.

Player of the series? Khawaja? Root for his batting and bowling? Crawley's been great but unlucky that his biggest contribution was in a game that didn't have the chance to finish. Woakes and Wood have been unreal but only played 3 tests each.

Edit: Root it is!

Edit: No it's not, that was some weird thing at the start. Woakes - massively deserved.

Foolish early declaration aside, I think the weather saved Australia from a series loss, and I suspect they well know it.

That said, what a fantastic series and performances from both teams, had Australia won today it would have been deserved, they didn’t and Englands win itself is indeed most certainly deserved.

Fantastic finish for Broad, what a shame he’s hanging up his hat with clearly so much more to give.

I don’t see a future for Anderson…

Fantastic series again, I’ll enjoy watching the highlights tonight!

Congratulations to BOTH teams.

Ah, he was my pick. Got some good knocks and bowled consistently and getting crucial wickets at the right times. Yeah didn't play them all but that shouldn't be a necessity

Fantastic series, it's got me back into cricket again. I fell out of love with English cricket a bit when they got rid of Pietersen, but this reminded me why I loved watching the sport so much all those years ago.

Pietersen in a way, was very much bazball before bazball. I believe his impact on the team is ever-lasting, indeed many of the bazball fans played with/against KP

Amen, he was my favourite player and I watched most of the games he was involved in from the start of his career till the end.

I'll never forget his innings against South Africa when all the KP Genius Twitter account stuff came out, which was being influenced by several members inside the England team, Swann etc.

Anyway, this series has got me right back into English cricket. We could do with someone as exciting as Pietersen near the top of the order, and Harry Brook looks an ideal candidate, albeit not quite as explosive.
