Yep. I'd like to see Bethell keeping doing what he's doing, not panicking and trying to score faster. That's twice he's taken an edge and it's not carried as he's controlled his hands. Honestly wouldn't mind if he gets to his first 10 runs from 50 balls, as long as he keeps going. He's clearly got the talent, I don't want to see him getting out to an ugly heave early on.
Yeah agree. I think if the batsmen are going to salvage anything it is to show they actually have a bit of situational intelligence for a change. That is to take it slow and steady here, let the new ball lose its shine and for their two best bowlers to bake in the midday heat. 29 in Sydney now, due to peak at 31. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Open things up a bit and start scoring after lunch.

Or do as they normally do and lose next three wickets for 25, have the day off tomorrow to drink beers and play golf.

Not really had the chance to watch Bethell until this evening, but he looks a real player. Great balance, bat comes down dead straight, doesn't look rushed. If he's got the head for it he could be something pretty special.

Bethell playing like a proper test batsman. Lets see if Brook can do the same. These two need to get through the rest of the day bare minimum to avoid defeat.

That Will Jacks wicket.

There is that stupidity of these England players again. Watching what is unfolding and going out and doing that. Thick as pig ****

7 for 275, England is making a mess of what could have been a triumphant return to form! Stokes is dismissed for 1 after clutching awkwardly at his groinal region!

Bethall's performance is encouraging for the future and one of the few bright spots of what's been a disappointing tour. Realistically we need another 150 runs to have any sort of chance of winning this test with two wickets left (and a blunt bowling attack) that seems unlikely.

Bethell should've played in all the matches of this series. If he’d been in the XI from the start, Australia likely wouldn’t be 3–0 up after the first 3 matches.

Pretty easy thing to say with the benefit of hindsight. Even at the start of this match there was a lot of criticism around picking a 22 year old with barely any red ball experience at 3 for an ashes test. Especially on the pitches at the start of the series he could easily have been worked over and had his confidence shot.

England have been so good at building pressure and then somehow letting them off the hook this series. We can make them sweat a little here but ultimately too little too late.

The only thing thats interesting me in world cricket is Joe Root beating Tendhulkar for the most runs scored in test cricket. I think he will do it.
