Been a nice change, he looked utterly toothless in his last outing. But if he can do this one match in every few, at the age of just 20, he'll learn and develop and very much deserves to have faith kept in him when he's not playing so well. The way he's bowled today he looks better than Jimmy did 15 years ago.

He's received two perfect deliveries from an off-spinner against a left handed batsman. I agree he's been poor recently, but it's harsh to blame him for either of his dismissals this match. Sometimes you just have to look at the bowler and say well done.
 
He gets a brilliant score once in a while. Most of the time he’s lucky to get past 20. He fails to see off the new ball, which is one of his main jobs.
 
Cricket is such a game of fine margins. If Malan could just have held on to that catch when Kohli was on 20, England would be odds on favs now.
