Can't stand Root's captaincy. Great batsman, good guy to have around the dressing room as a cheeky chappy, but let him focus on his batting and give the captaincy to someone who can think.

Why aren't they taking the new ball?

Wft is Bairstow standing up to Jimmy?

Why have I just put a fiver on an Indian win?

    Great ball Adil!

As a former leggie, I always loved it when batsmen tried to hammer me. If you've got the runs to play with, they're pretty much guaranteed to get themselves out sooner rather than later.

    That should be it now.

Give Jimmy the new ball and let him get that record.

Middle stump sent packing. That's how it's done.

Any interest in the Sri Lanka series? England are batting first in Dambulla and are 226-6. Morgan falls just short of a century and Moeen gets a golden duck.

Looking forward to seeing Olly Stone bowl. What a prospect.

My Sky box hasn't recorded it

I hope this rain isn't going to spoil the whole series.

Nathan Lyon just took 4 wickets with 6 balls for a stunning 4-12 against Pakistan.

    Oh, and this also happened:

I am biased, but I think these first two days have concluded that Foakes should have probably been playing for England some time ago

Possibly. But he has been on the watch list for a while, and the middle-order has hardly been a problem for quite some time.

Can't see how Bairstow walks back into that team. He's been out of form all year. Foakes showed the patience needed for test cricket, especially against spin.

Well this is going much better than expected. Curran is flying along now and Sri Lanka don't seem to be causing too much of a problem in the last 25 minutes.
